Can you watch TV and the news in GTA 6?

The news in GTA 6 is on screen twice in Trailer 1, and its stories read like the things a player does. This page is what those broadcasts show, what nobody knows about watching them, and how the last game put a television in every safehouse.

What the footage shows

At 1:03 a broadcast fills the frame: aerial footage from a helicopter over a rain-soaked junction with an overturned car in the middle of it, a police car beside it and traffic stopped around, a LIVE badge at the top left, and along the bottom the Weazel block with NEWS in red and 10:34 ET under it, a red banner reading NO (OVER) TURNING ZONE! and a white strapline, COPS ARREST MAN WHO FLIPPED HIS CAR AFTER PEEWEES DINE AND DASH. At 1:06.67 a second item carries the same block, a banner reading DIRT-BIKE DIRT-BAGS, the strapline COPS FAIL TO STOP THUGS ON MOTORBIKES TERRORIZING VICE CITY, and under it a running ticker cut off at both ends of the screen. The news page carries both frames.

The helicopter that shoots this kind of footage has a page of its own: a press still catches it close enough to read the registration N88892 on the upper fuselage, NEWS down the side and REPORTING THE RIGHT NEWS under the open door a cameraman is leaning out of. Weazel News itself, the brand on the block, has a page as well.

What the frames establish is a loop: something happens, a helicopter films it, and the result plays on a screen somewhere. How tightly that loop is tied to what the player does, and where the screen is, the material does not say: no safehouse television, no channel button, no remote.

What nobody knows

• Whether broadcasts react to the player’s actions.
• Whether you can watch the news on a television you own.
• Whether Mega Noticias, the Spanish-language station, runs the same stories.
• Whether the news helicopter can be shot down, and whether that changes anything.

How Grand Theft Auto V did it

This is the reference, not a prediction. In GTA V the television lived in the safehouses, and the GTA Wiki’s page on it says the player “must be seated to control the television”; sometimes a protagonist you switched to was already on the sofa watching. The two main channels were Weazel and CNT, both broadcast from the transmission tower behind the Vinewood sign. The news did react: in the mission Mr. Philips, Dave Norton tunes in to the Weazel News report of the Vangelico robbery Michael and Franklin have just pulled, and the wiki notes that televised reports moved the plot in other missions too. Weazel ran on the radio as well, with bulletins that “will update the player as they navigate through the games’ respective stories”, it flew a news helicopter over incident scenes, and it kept a fleet of Rumpo news vans.

What this page becomes on launch day

From 19 November 2026 this guide is rewritten from the release build: where you watch, which channels there are, and whether the news reports what you did, each with the date it was tested. Until then the short answer at the top stands.
