GTA 6

Gameplay

The wanted system now tracks what the police know about you, and there is a wheel for taking your mask off. This is the section for the mechanics, read frame by frame out of the Extended Look.

The strongest thread runs through three separate frames. Under the wanted stars sit small red icons: two figures, a clothes hanger, a face, a car. Ninety seconds later, right after the getaway car is set on fire, the car icon is gone. And on the ITEMS tab of the weapon wheel there is a bandana, a pair of sunglasses, a cap and an outfit, each with a state of ON or OFF. One system, three pieces of evidence, and none of it announced anywhere.

The rest of the section is the same kind of reading. Six wanted stars rather than five. Two money balances with different icons. Three meters instead of two, one of them marked with an eye. A live stream with a chat column running over the driving. A text message from Lucia that hangs in the world and tilts with the camera instead of sitting in a corner of the screen.

Each page shows the frame it comes from with the timecode, so you can check the reading rather than take it. Where a frame comes from our own pass through the video rather than a measured moment, the timecode carries a tilde — it is accurate to about a third of a second, and saying so costs nothing.

13 pages, each one built from the official material.
