This is unusual enough to be worth explaining, so here is the full accounting.
Cookies a visitor receives
None. This site runs no analytics, no advertising, no embedded players and no social widgets, and those are what place cookies on almost every other site you visit. The typefaces are served from our own server rather than from Google, so reading a page here does not cause a request to any third party at all.
Cookies an editor receives
The site runs on WordPress. When someone from the editorial side logs in to make a change, WordPress sets the session cookies it needs in order to know who is logged in and to protect forms against cross-site request forgery. These are strictly functional, they are set only after a deliberate login, and they never reach an ordinary reader.
Local storage
The site does not store anything in your browser’s local storage or session storage.
If that changes
Adding anything that sets a cookie for readers — analytics, an embedded video, a newsletter sign-up that remembers you — would mean a consent banner and a rewrite of this page. We would rather keep the page as it is.
