Dialogue choices

The source frame, with Dialogue choices marked
Extended Look · snt-00156 · ~0:59.73 · placeholder frame

Two dialogue options on screen at once, each on its own button. Grand Theft Auto has never let the player pick a line before.

At 0:59, inside the apartment block that opens the Extended Look, the bottom right of the screen shows two prompts stacked. The upper one reads RAYMOND? on the square button. The lower one reads SAN4SAN on L2.

They are short, the way a conversation prompt is short — a word that stands for a line rather than the line itself. And there are two of them at the same time, which is the part that matters: this is a choice, not a single contextual action.

What either option leads to, the frame does not show. RAYMOND? reads as a name being asked about. SAN4SAN does not resolve to anything else in the official material.

How to recognise it

  • Two prompts visible at the same time, bottom right
  • RAYMOND? on square
  • SAN4SAN on L2
  • Short labels standing in for lines, not the lines themselves

  • Whether dialogue choices are common or reserved for particular scenes
  • Who Raymond is
  • What SAN4SAN refers to
  • Whether a choice changes anything beyond the next line
