Interaction prompts
Not every prompt in GTA 6 sits in a corner. Some of them float on the thing itself — KNOCK, drawn on the door you are standing at.
At 2:14 a label reading KNOCK appears in the middle of the frame with a triangle button beside it, positioned over the door the character is facing rather than in the HUD. It sits in world space, small, and moves with the shot.
That is a different style from the stacked lists used for dialogue and for the dog, and the two coexist in the same video. The corner list is for choosing between things; the floating label is for one thing that is right in front of you.
Two more of the same kind appear later. SMOKE, at 11:22, for lighting a cigarette. And at 6:05 a pair of them on a car door — SLIM JIM on triangle and SMASH WINDOW on circle — which is a choice presented in the world rather than in a corner.
How to recognise it
- A label drawn in world space on the object, not in the HUD
- KNOCK on triangle, over a door, at 2:14
- SMOKE at 11:22, for a cigarette
- SLIM JIM and SMASH WINDOW together on a car door at 6:05
- Coexists with the corner-stacked prompt style used elsewhere
The frame it comes from
The frame is Extended Look at ~2:14.15. It is 1920 by 1080, and the vehicle occupies 672 by 540 of it.
What we still do not know
- What decides which style a prompt uses
- Whether knocking has an outcome beyond opening a scene
- How many world interactions there are of this kind
- Whether they can be turned off in the HUD settings
