The news

The source frame, with The news marked
Trailer 1 · snt-00032 · 1:03.57 · usable frame

The news runs on screens inside the world, with a lower third, a timestamp and a helicopter feed — and the story it is covering is the one the player was just in.

A broadcast fills the frame: aerial footage from a helicopter, a banner across the bottom and a clock in the corner. The station is Weazel News, a name the series has used for two decades and which has its own page here.

A second item in the same sequence covers motorcycle gangs, with a ticker running underneath. The helicopter that shoots this footage is also in the material, carrying the slogan REPORTING THE RIGHT NEWS on its tail.

What the frames establish is a loop: something happens, a news helicopter films it, and the result plays on a screen somewhere. How tightly that loop is tied to what the player does, the material does not say.

How to recognise it

  • Weazel News branding on the broadcast
  • A lower-third banner and an on-screen clock
  • Helicopter footage as the source
  • A second item about motorcycle gangs, with a ticker
  • The news helicopter itself carries REPORTING THE RIGHT NEWS

The frame it comes from

The frame is Trailer 1 at 1:03.57. It is 1920 by 1080, and the vehicle occupies 1920 by 972 of it. Also in it: Weazel News.

What we still do not know

  • Whether broadcasts react to the player's actions
  • Whether you can watch the news on a television you own
  • Whether Mega Noticias, the Spanish-language station, runs the same stories
  • Whether the helicopter can be shot down, and whether that changes anything
