GTA 6, how to
How do you buy weapons and ammo in GTA 6?
Short answer
Ammu-Nation is back. A television commercial in Trailer 2 shows the slat wall behind the counter of Phil's Ammu-Nation with around ten long guns on it, and the Extended Look's weapon wheel shows a magazine count over a reserve for each gun. What a gun costs, and whether ammo is sold anywhere else, is in no frame. Until launch, the reference is Grand Theft Auto V's Ammu-Nation.

Where the footage shows it
The gun shop is the one piece of GTA 6’s economy Rockstar has actually shown, and it showed it as an advert. Trailer 2 cuts to a television commercial for Phil’s Ammu-Nation, and behind the presenter hangs a wall of guns. Add the ammunition counters the Extended Look draws next to every weapon and you have the outline of a system. The prices, the stock and the rules are the part still missing.
What the footage shows
At 2:11 in Trailer 2 the picture is a commercial on a screen, and behind the counter runs a white slat wall with around ten long guns hung horizontally in two and three rows: AR-pattern carbines, at least two shotguns with tube magazines, a rifle with wooden furniture, and a long-barrelled weapon an assistant in a red cap holds up. The presenter’s vest reads PHIL’S, which is why the branch and the chain each have a page. Individual models cannot be named at that resolution; the wall says the shop stocks long guns by the dozen and hangs them in the open, as it has since the chain first appeared.
Ammunition is on the HUD wherever a gun is. On the weapon wheel at 17:50 the pistol carries 20 in white over 80 in grey, a magazine over a reserve; inside the jewellery store at 18:01 the pistol reads 13 over 65. So ammunition is counted the way the series has always counted it. Whether it is bought over that counter, found, or looted from the people you shoot is not in the frames. The material also has a scored shooting range in a mock village, with twelve targets and a clock; whether it belongs to a store is not something the frame says.
What nobody knows
- What any weapon or box of ammunition costs.
- Whether weapons are bought, found, looted or all three, and whether the shop is the only place to buy ammunition.
- Whether attachments are sold. Some weapon pages on this site show a compensator or a suppressor fitted in the frame; where they came from is not shown.
- Whether body armour is sold, and in what form.
- How many stores there are, and whether the range is part of one.
How Grand Theft Auto V did it
This is the reference, not a prediction. In Grand Theft Auto V, Ammu-Nation sold firearms from pistols up to a minigun, body armour in tiers from super light to super heavy, and modifications for most weapons: silencers, flashlights, extended magazines and tints. Ammunition was bought at the same counter. Some branches had a shooting range that tested your handling and paid a small sum for passing; the GTA Wiki lists eleven stores across the state. That is the shape the commercial in Trailer 2 is playing on.
What this page becomes on launch day
From 19 November 2026 this guide is rewritten from the release build: the price of every weapon and ammunition type, where each is sold, what the attachments and armour are and where the stores stand, each with the date it was checked. Until then the short answer at the top stands.
Where this comes from
Every claim above rests on one of these. Anything marked the platform holder is Sony or Microsoft describing their own store or hardware, not Rockstar. Anything marked reported is somebody else telling us what Rockstar said, and is treated as weaker than Rockstar saying it.
