How do you buy a car in GTA 6?

In a Grand Theft Auto you take most cars and buy a few, and the second half is where the money goes. The official GTA 6 material shows the taking and the modifying and never the buying, so this page is what stands in for it, and how the last game sold you a car.

What the footage shows

Taking is on screen: at 6:04 of the Extended Look two prompts hang on the door of a red car, SLIM JIM and SMASH WINDOW, and the stealing guide works through it. Modifying is on screen: at 26:06 a car meet fills a lot with wrapped and modified cars and a crowd between them, and the customising guide takes it from there. Buying is not: no dealership, no showroom, no website on the phone, no car delivered to a garage, no price on a windscreen.

The two car businesses with legible signs point the other way. Wyman’s World Auto Salvage is a salvage yard, parts bought and sold, which is why this site’s own key for that page changed once the lettering was read. Rideout Customs is a workshop with a yellow coupe up on axle stands, a working shop rather than a showroom. Neither is a place a car is sold.

So the material leaves the question open in both directions. It does not show a way to buy a car, and it does not show that there is none; it shows that everything on the road in the footage was taken, driven or modified.

What nobody knows

• Whether cars are bought at all, and where: a website, a dealer, a meet.
• What a car costs, and whether the two money balances on the weapon wheel screen have anything to do with it.
• Whether a bought car is delivered, and where it is kept.
• Whether a stolen car can be made yours, and whether it can be sold; the selling guide has that half.

How Grand Theft Auto V did it

This is the reference, not a prediction. GTA V sold cars on the in-game internet, reached from the phone. The GTA Wiki’s page on Legendary Motorsport, “the online leader in high performance cars” of that game, says there was “no office or dealership in game”: you bought on the website and the car was delivered to your character’s garage. Its catalogue put the Grotti Cheetah at $650,000 and the Truffade Adder at $1,000,000, and the everyday end of the market was a second site, Southern San Andreas Super Autos.

What this page becomes on launch day

From 19 November 2026 this guide is rewritten from the release build: where cars are bought, what they cost, where they are delivered and whether a stolen car can be kept, each with the date it was tested. Until then the short answer at the top stands.
