GTA 6, how to
How do you save your game in GTA 6?
Short answer
No official frame shows a save: no menu, no bed, no autosave icon, and Rockstar has said nothing about it. The one thing the material confirms is that Jason has a safehouse, because Rockstar's own caption calls it that. Until 19 November 2026 the reference is Grand Theft Auto V, which autosaved after missions and let you save by sleeping at a safehouse.

Where the footage shows it
This is the shortest guide on the site because there is the least to say. Saving is the kind of thing a trailer never shows and a walkthrough never mentions, and the Extended Look, for all its HUD, never opens a menu. What follows is what the material confirms, what it does not, and how the last game did it.
What the footage shows
One thing. Rockstar’s alt text for a press screenshot describes the exterior of Jason’s safehouse, with the Vapid Ganado, the Dinka Enduro and the Crest Kayak stationed outside. So the game has a safehouse, and Rockstar calls it that. Whether you sleep in it, whether sleeping saves, and whether Lucia has one of her own are not in the caption or the picture.
Nothing else in the material touches saving. The Extended Look runs as one continuous piece of play with no menu, no pause screen and no save prompt. The phone appears as a message card in the world, not as a menu with a save option on it. There is no autosave icon in any corner of any frame we hold.
What nobody knows
- Whether the game autosaves, and after what.
- Whether you can save manually, and where: a bed, the phone, the pause menu.
- How many save slots there are.
- Whether Jason and Lucia share one save, or whether switching leads changes what is saved.
- Whether sleeping advances the clock, as it did last time.
How Grand Theft Auto V did it
This is the reference, not a prediction. Grand Theft Auto V autosaved after certain missions and activities, and saved when you slept in a bed at a safehouse. Sleeping also moved the clock, by a different amount for each lead: the GTA Wiki gives six hours for Michael, eight for Franklin and twelve for Trevor. That detail matters more than it sounds, because a game with two leads who are apart at times has to decide what sleeping does to the other one.
What this page becomes on launch day
From 19 November 2026 this guide is rewritten from the release build: how autosave behaves, how a manual save is made, how many slots there are and what sleeping does, each with the date it was checked. Until then the short answer at the top stands.
Where this comes from
Every claim above rests on one of these. Anything marked the platform holder is Sony or Microsoft describing their own store or hardware, not Rockstar. Anything marked reported is somebody else telling us what Rockstar said, and is treated as weaker than Rockstar saying it.
