GTA 6, how to
How do you make money in GTA 6?
Short answer
Nothing official says what pays. The weapon wheel frame shows two money balances side by side, the Extended Look shows a jewellery store being robbed and product being cut and packed by hand, and Rockstar's synopsis opens with an easy score going wrong. That is the whole picture. Until launch, the reference is what paid in Grand Theft Auto V.

Where the footage shows it
The question people will type on 20 November is the one Rockstar has said least about. No official frame shows a payout, a price or a bank. What the material does show is where money sits on the screen and what kind of work the two leads are doing, and that is enough for a page that says what is known and refuses to guess the rest.
What the footage shows
The one frame with money in it is the weapon wheel at 17:50 in the Extended Look. Beside the meters it carries two money balances, side by side. The frame does not label them. Cash in hand and money in the bank is the reading the series suggests, and it is a reading; a second balance could as easily belong to the other lead.
The work is clearer than the pay. At 18:01 the Extended Look is inside a jewellery store being robbed in daylight: display cases open, two gunmen covering the room, a member of staff with her hands out and a hostage on the floor, and four seconds later the same camera is on a motorcycle pulling away. At 2:56 two pairs of gloved hands are cutting and packing product at a kitchen table, with the cutting agents readable on the cartons. At 6:04 a man leans into a parked coupe and is offered two ways to steal it. Rockstar’s own synopsis says the story begins when an easy score goes wrong. None of that comes with a figure.
What nobody knows
- What the two balances are, and whether Jason and Lucia share them.
- Whether missions pay at all, or only the scores do.
- Whether there is a stock market, and whether the story moves it, as it did last time.
- Whether the drug table is a mission, a business you run, or both.
- Whether stolen cars can be sold, and where.
- What anything costs, from ammunition to property.
How Grand Theft Auto V did it
This is the reference, not a prediction. The GTA Wiki’s account of money in Grand Theft Auto V is worth reading against the footage above. Many story missions offered no reward at all. Heists paid, but carried setup costs and split the take among the crew according to their skill. Store hold-ups paid small amounts, and hijacking a security van was, in the wiki’s words, mildly profitable. Property earned an income once bought. The real money was in the two stock markets, the Liberty City National Exchange and BAWSAQ: after certain missions an investment could return a great deal, and an unwise one could lose as much, and the missions that moved prices hardest were the assassinations Lester handed out. None of that is promised for GTA 6. The two balances on the wheel and the two kinds of work in the footage are the only lines Rockstar has drawn.
What this page becomes on launch day
From 19 November 2026 this guide is rewritten from the release build: what each score pays, whether missions pay, what the balances are and whether a market exists, each figure with the date it was recorded and the build it came from. Until then the short answer at the top stands.
Where this comes from
Every claim above rests on one of these. Anything marked the platform holder is Sony or Microsoft describing their own store or hardware, not Rockstar. Anything marked reported is somebody else telling us what Rockstar said, and is treated as weaker than Rockstar saying it.
