GTA 6, answered
What time does GTA 6 release in each region?
Short answer
There is no single worldwide moment. PlayStation Store listings unlock GTA 6 at local midnight on 19 November 2026, region by region: New Zealand first at 11:00 UTC on 18 November, Mexico and Central America last, 19 hours later. Countries with several time zones get one national timestamp. Pre-loading opens 12 November.

GTA 6 does not unlock for the whole world at once. It unlocks the way most console releases do: at local midnight, region by region, which means players in some countries are already playing while others still have most of a day left to wait.
The pattern, and where it comes from
Rockstar has not published a list of unlock times. What exists is the PlayStation Store’s own timestamps, one per store region: the US listing, for example, gives 19 November 2026 at 05:00 UTC, which is midnight on the east coast. GTA BOOM read those timestamps for 63 countries on 7 September 2026 and found they resolve into fifteen windows, each at local midnight on 19 November. New Zealand unlocks first, at 11:00 UTC on 18 November. The rollout then moves west through Australia, Japan and South Korea, Southeast Asia, India, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas, and ends in Mexico and Central America, 19 hours after New Zealand.
Countries that span several time zones get one national timestamp, not one per zone. In the United States that is midnight in New York, which is 9pm on 18 November in Los Angeles; in Australia it is midnight in Sydney, which is 9pm in Perth. The exact hour therefore depends on which store region an account is registered in, not on where the console sits.
Local midnight, by region
The fifteen windows as the store timestamps stood on 7 September 2026. Sony or Rockstar can still change them before launch, and if they do, this table changes with them.
| Store region | Local unlock | In UTC |
|---|---|---|
| New Zealand | 00:00 19 Nov (NZDT) | 11:00, 18 Nov |
| Australia | 00:00 19 Nov (AEDT, Sydney) | 13:00, 18 Nov |

Pre-loading
Digital pre-orders can begin downloading from 12 November 2026, a week before launch, so the file should be installed before your region’s midnight arrives; the PlayStation Store lists the seven-day pre-load with every pre-order, and Take-Two’s announcement gives the same date. Pre-loading does not move the unlock time itself; the game stays locked until the timestamp assigned to your account’s region. The pre-order page has the rest.
Xbox and the region trick
Rockstar confirms the same 19 November date for Xbox Series X|S, but the Xbox Store confirms the date without exposing a region-by-region schedule the way the PlayStation Store does. Xbox ties an account’s unlock time to its registered region rather than the console’s physical location, which is why switching an Xbox account’s region to New Zealand is reported to let players start up to around 19 hours early. PlayStation accounts are tied to the region they were created in, so the same trick does not work as easily on PS5.
What we do not know
- A Rockstar-published list of unlock times for every country.
- Whether Xbox’s regional schedule matches PlayStation’s, region for region.
- Whether the store timestamps change between now and 19 November; the release date page carries the date itself.
Where this comes from
Every claim above rests on one of these. Anything marked the platform holder is Sony or Microsoft describing their own store or hardware, not Rockstar. Anything marked reported is somebody else telling us what Rockstar said, and is treated as weaker than Rockstar saying it.
