How do social media and livestreaming work in GTA 6?

The world of GTA 6 has its own social network and its own livestreams, and both are drawn on screen in the official material. This page is what the two frames show, what they leave open, and how the last game’s Lifeinvader worked.

What the footage shows

At 0:41 of Trailer 1 a post fills the screen in the layout a short-video app uses: the clip, a round avatar with the handle DadBodSquad and a Follow button laid over its lower edge, the caption under them and comment and heart icons at the top right. The caption reads Ay Papi! Save some sugar baby for the rest of us! The clip is a boat party with the skyline behind it and an airliner in the sky, and the card is a little wider than it is tall, with a blurred spread of the same picture filling the screen either side. The social network page carries the crop and a correction: until 23 September 2026 it said the post was vertical, and on the true frame it is not.

At 18:25 of the Extended Look the right-hand side of the screen carries a stream overlay over the driving: a red LIVE badge with 53k beside it, a column of eight chat messages each with a handle and a round avatar, emoji reactions floating up the edge, and VIEW LIVESTREAM on R3 at the bottom right. The chat is bilingual: @Brodiebae writes “Bro loves attention lol”, @papi_mucho_dinero “sup camilo and chat”, @NeilsaBravos “métele más, ta’ bueno”. The second message names the streamer as camilo. Whether that is a character, the player or someone being watched, the frame does not settle; the R3 prompt says the stream is something the player can open rather than only something happening on screen.

The two are almost certainly one system, but no frame links them, so this site keeps them on separate pages. What is settled is that posting and streaming are modelled in the world: a handle, a follow button, a viewer count and a chat that answers in two languages.

What nobody knows

• What the network is called.
• Whether the player posts or only watches.
• Whether the livestream overlay and the social network are the same system.
• Whether posts and chat react to what the player does.
• Who camilo is, and whether the viewer count responds to anything.

How Grand Theft Auto V did it

This is the reference, not a prediction. GTA V’s social network was Lifeinvader, a parody of Facebook whose interface, the GTA Wiki notes, mimicked the old Facebook Wall rather than the Timeline. The player could not post to it or buy from it; what you could do was read profiles, and the three protagonists’ pages updated “regarding events that took place during missions”, with a “stalk” button where Facebook has Like. The company had a mission of its own, Friend Request, in which Michael, on Lester’s orders, destroyed the Lifeinvader phone prototype and killed the CEO, Jay Norris, with it. Livestreaming, a viewer count and a chat column had no counterpart in that game.

What this page becomes on launch day

From 19 November 2026 this guide is rewritten from the release build: whether you can post and stream, what the network is called, and what a post or a viewer count changes, each with the date it was tested. Until then the short answer at the top stands.
