Can you deal drugs in GTA 6?

The series has always had drugs in its story and, since GTA Online, in its economy. The official GTA 6 material shows exactly one thing about them, and this page is that frame, what it does and does not settle, and how the last game handled the trade.

What the footage shows

At 2:56 of the Extended Look the camera sits at table height, close in. Two pairs of yellow household gloves work in frame: the left pair holds a dark scraper over a pot, the right pair lifts a small skillet. Behind them, out of focus, a second person in a surgical mask and blue gloves works at the same bench under a shaded lamp. The table is crowded with kitchen goods rather than laboratory glassware: two cooking pots, a bottle with a green cap, a red cup, a roll of paper towel, crumpled paper, plastic boxes with labels. Steam hangs over it all and the near pot is rimmed with residue. The page on the frame carries the crop.

Three packages are readable and every one is grocery. A carton of Grünewald Family Farm Instant Dry Milk, with Farmers Pledge on the flap and Fortified with Vitamin A & D down the side. A blue and white box reading PALM & FLUTE, of the kind flour comes in, with nothing on it that says flour. And a green box with a cartoon rat on it whose name sits under this site’s floor for lettering. Cutting agents, in other words, on the table next to the product.

What the frame shows is the bench and not a menu. It does not say what the product is, whether the hands are the player’s, whether this is a mission or something run as a business, or where the room is. The rest of the material never returns to it: no deal, no buyer, no stash, no raid.

What nobody knows

• What the product is; nothing in the frame names it.
• Whether this is a mission or a business, and whether you run it or work for someone.
• Whether anything is sold, to whom, and for how much.
• Whether the police or rivals come for it.
• Where the room is.

How Grand Theft Auto V did it

This is the reference, not a prediction. In GTA V’s story the trade belonged to Trevor Philips Enterprises, which the GTA Wiki describes as a criminal operation rather than a business the player ran: Trevor’s line was “The guns and crank in this area go through Trevor Philips Enterprises, or they ain’t going!”, the meth lab sat behind the Liquor Ace store in Sandy Shores with Chef cooking, and the player took part in missions for it rather than managing it. A business you ran yourself arrived in GTA Online with the Bikers update of 4 October 2016: a clubhouse first, then, in the wiki’s words, “Business properties to sell product and make a profit”. A bench with gloves and cutting agents is the same idea as those businesses; whether GTA 6 makes it a business or a story is not something one frame can say.
