GTA 6, how to
How do you work out and raise your stats in GTA 6?
Short answer
The gym is back as a place: a press screenshot has Lucia on a bench between sets, gloves on, headphones on, a loaded barbell beside her. Whether it raises anything is in no frame. The weapon wheel shows three meters, a heart, a lightning bolt and an eye, which are the nearest thing the material has to stats, and it does not label them. Until launch, the reference is Grand Theft Auto V's skills.

Where the footage shows it
Stats are a thing the series keeps changing its mind about. San Andreas had a gym and a fat meter; Grand Theft Auto V kept skill bars that grew with use and dropped the gym. GTA 6’s material shows a gym again, with Lucia in it, and three meters on the weapon wheel that nobody has named. That is the whole of the evidence, and it is more than nothing.
What the footage shows
A press screenshot from the Lucia Caminos set puts Lucia on a padded bench with her hands on her knees, in white fingerless training gloves, a cropped hoodie, over-ear headphones and black and lime leggings, between sets rather than mid-set. To the right stands a barbell on a rack with plates loaded; the room is bright and glazed, with louvred blinds and palms outside, a commercial gym rather than a garage. Elsewhere in the material there is an open-air gym on the beach with dumbbells and benches. The gym is back as a place. What it raises, the picture does not say.
The other frame is the weapon wheel at 17:50 of the Extended Look, whose top left corner carries three meters: a heart in pink, a lightning bolt in cyan, an eye in lilac. Each bar is filled along its whole length and nothing is drawn behind it, so the frame says nothing about how full any of them is; it does say the three have different lengths, the heart the longest and the eye the shortest, and that the heart alone carries a divider. Health, stamina and something to do with seeing is the plain reading, and it is a reading. Two activities in the footage look like the places a stat would grow: a scored shooting range with a clock and a target count, and a bare-knuckle fight in a backyard ring.
What nobody knows
- What the three meters are, and whether their different lengths mean they can be grown.
- Whether the gym raises anything, and whether the beach gym does the same.
- Whether there are hidden skills for driving, shooting, flying or lung capacity, as last time.
- Whether Jason and Lucia have different stats, and whether either has a special ability.
How Grand Theft Auto V did it
This is the reference, not a prediction. Grand Theft Auto V had no gym; it had skills that grew by doing. The GTA Wiki lists them: strength, raised by landing hits in melee and playing sports, which boosted melee damage, sped up ladder climbing and cut the damage you took; stamina, which set how long you could run, swim or cycle flat out before losing health; lung capacity, raised by diving and, oddly, yoga; flying, from time in the air and flight school; shooting, from hits, headshots and the range; driving, from wheelies and clean landings; stealth, from staying undetected; and a special ability bar particular to each lead. A gym with a loaded bar and a woman between sets is the one thing on that list the last game did not have a room for.
What this page becomes on launch day
From 19 November 2026 this guide is rewritten from the release build: what the meters are, which activities raise which stat, what the gym does and whether the leads differ, each with the date it was tested. Until then the short answer at the top stands.
Where this comes from
Every claim above rests on one of these. Anything marked the platform holder is Sony or Microsoft describing their own store or hardware, not Rockstar. Anything marked reported is somebody else telling us what Rockstar said, and is treated as weaker than Rockstar saying it.
