GTA 6, how to
Can you parachute or skydive in GTA 6?
Short answer
Nothing in the official material shows it: no parachute, no jump, no canopy, no plane door open at altitude. Planes and a helicopter are in the footage; leaving one in the air is not. In Grand Theft Auto V a parachute cost $100 at Ammu-Nation, was free at two spots, and was equipped automatically in any aircraft after the mission Minor Turbulence.

Skydiving has been in the series since San Andreas and it is one of the things people ask about a new map first. For GTA 6 the answer before launch is a blank, and this page says so rather than guessing: what the frames hold instead, and how the last game did it.
What the footage shows
No frame of the three official reveals or the press pack shows a parachute, a jump, an open canopy, a landing or a plane door open at altitude. What the material does hold is aircraft: the planes hub has six, from a floatplane on its cages of struts to an airliner crossing the sky behind a boat party, the helicopters hub has the police and news machines, and the flying guide takes the footage as far as it goes. None of it puts anyone outside an aircraft in the air.
The nearest thing is height itself. Mount Kalaga’s gorge, the high bridges and the towers of Vice City are all drawn, and every one of them is the kind of place the series has put a jump. That is an observation about the map, not evidence of a parachute.
What nobody knows
- Whether parachutes exist at all, and whether skydiving returns.
- Where a parachute would come from, and what it would cost.
- Whether it is equipped automatically in aircraft, as GTA V’s was.
- Whether there are jump points or challenges.
How Grand Theft Auto V did it
This is the reference, not a prediction. In GTA V, as the GTA Wiki has it, the parachute cost $100 at Ammu-Nation and was free at two spots: the upper boarding platform of the Mount Chiliad cable car, and the eastern tip of a crane top in Pillbox Hill. It became available after the mission Minor Turbulence, and from then on “It is automatically equipped when entering any aircraft.” Landing had a rule: “it is necessary to pull back the movement stick” to land safely, and “Landing while pushing forward on the movement stick will cause the character to faceplant.” Holding a button trailed smoke on the way down.
What this page becomes on launch day
From 19 November 2026 this guide is rewritten from the release build: whether parachutes exist, where they come from, and how a jump and a landing work, each with the date it was tested. Until then the short answer at the top stands.
Where this comes from
Every claim above rests on one of these. Anything marked the platform holder is Sony or Microsoft describing their own store or hardware, not Rockstar. Anything marked reported is somebody else telling us what Rockstar said, and is treated as weaker than Rockstar saying it.
