How do you enter cheats in GTA 6?

Cheats are the single most searched thing about any Grand Theft Auto, and the honest page about them before launch is short. This one says what exists, which is nothing, what the material shows, which is also nothing, and how the last game took its codes, which is the only part with any substance.

What the footage shows

No frame of Trailer 1, Trailer 2 or the Extended Look shows a cheat being entered, a code, a console or an effect that could only come from one. The phone is on screen as a message card in the corner and nothing more; no dialler, no contact list. That is the whole of it, and the cheats pages on this site say the same thing from two angles: the cheats page lists what will be here on launch day and nothing before, and the answer page explains why every list circulating now is wrong.

Rockstar’s own product page, the pre-order announcement and both storefront listings say nothing about cheats at all. What can be said is that every mainline Grand Theft Auto since Grand Theft Auto III has shipped with a single-player cheat system, which makes one a reasonable expectation and nothing more.

What nobody knows

• Whether GTA 6 has cheats at all.
• How they would be entered: buttons, the phone, a console, or something new.
• What a cheat costs: saving, trophies, achievements, a mission’s medal.
• Whether any code carries over from Grand Theft Auto V. There is no basis for expecting that.

How Grand Theft Auto V did it

This is the reference, not a prediction. GTA V took cheats three ways, as the GTA Wiki lists them: button combinations on a controller, phone numbers dialled on the in-game phone in the form 1-999 followed by a word spelled on the keypad, and on PC a console opened with the tilde key. The phone could not store them: “the player cannot store these cheats on the phone, meaning that if a cheat deactivates or wears off, it must be input again.” Three of the wiki’s examples give the pattern: 1-999-467-8648, HOP-TO-IT, for a super jump; 1-999-887-853, TURTLE, for full health and armour; 1-999-724-654-5537, PAINKILLER, for five minutes of invincibility.

The cost is the one thing on this page that comes from Rockstar itself: its support page on saving and achievements while using cheats, read on 16 September 2026, says cheats disable trophies and achievements for the current session. The wiki adds that “activating a cheat during a mission will restrict that mission attempt to a bronze medal”.

What this page becomes on launch day

From 19 November 2026 this guide is rewritten from the release build: whether cheats exist, how they are entered, what each one does and what it costs you, each with the date it was tested. Until then the short answer at the top stands.
