GTA 6, how to
How do boats work in GTA 6?
Short answer
Boats are the best-documented vehicles in the material after cars: an airboat named on its own seat back, a jet ski named on its hull, a water taxi, an inflatable, motor yachts and a boat brand legible on a hull, and the Extended Look shows the airboat under way from dead astern. What no frame shows is where a boat comes from: no dock prompt, no dealer, no trailer being launched. Until launch, the reference is Grand Theft Auto V.

Where the footage shows it
A state of keys, swamps and canals is a state of boats, and the official material treats them as seriously as cars: named, varied, and shown being used. This page is the water as the footage shows it, and the last game’s rules for getting onto it.
What the footage shows
Two boats carry their own names. The Airgator Airboat 09 is named on the plate on the back of its raised seat in a Grassrivers press screenshot, lying at a dock behind three hunters, and the Extended Look shows it from dead astern at 17:09, under way, its caged propeller and two air rudders standing up behind the engine. The Seashark has its name along its hull in magenta capitals at 2:20 of Trailer 2, clear of the water mid-jump with two riders aboard. A third name is a brand: the Lürepredator L35P, legible on a hull. Everything else on the boats page is described by what it is, because that is what the frames support.
What is described is a fleet. A canopied passenger boat on a city waterway at 17:28, people under its roof. A rigid-hulled inflatable running a fishing party out with twin outboards and at least one rod aboard. Motor yachts in three pictures, one at anchor among the party boats of the Keys with people along its rail. Speedboats, offshore racers, a kayak, a police boat. The airboat under way and the jet skis at 17:25 with the minimap on screen are the two the player is plainly driving; nothing shows a boat being taken, bought or launched.
What nobody knows
- Where boats come from: docks, marinas, a dealer, a trailer you back into the water.
- Whether boats can be owned and kept, and whether a yacht is yours to have.
- How an airboat handles, and whether the swamp is passable in anything else.
- Whether the police follow you onto the water, as the police boat suggests.
How Grand Theft Auto V did it
This is the reference, not a prediction. Grand Theft Auto V left boats at docks and marinas to be taken, and, as the GTA Wiki notes, on trailers behind cars: pushing or pulling a trailer into the water let you steal the boat on it. Boats deformed in collisions and explosions, and the game added a submersible it filed under boats. An airboat, a swamp and a fishing party are things that game’s water did not have.
What this page becomes on launch day
From 19 November 2026 this guide is rewritten from the release build: where boats are found, whether they can be bought and kept, how the airboat and the jet ski handle and what the police do on the water, each with the date it was tested. Until then the short answer at the top stands.
Where this comes from
Every claim above rests on one of these. Anything marked the platform holder is Sony or Microsoft describing their own store or hardware, not Rockstar. Anything marked reported is somebody else telling us what Rockstar said, and is treated as weaker than Rockstar saying it.

Twee daarvan, Ultimate Edition Benefits en Vintage Vice City Pack, bevatten studiorenders van voertuigen; de bestandsnamen en alt-teksten dragen de namen.
