The Airgator Airboat 09: a flat-bottomed swamp boat with a caged propeller and two air rudders, named on its own seat back in the Grassrivers press stills and shown from astern, from above and in sheriff's markings.
The name is on the boat. In the first of the press pack’s Grassrivers stills, where the airboat lies behind three hunters and an alligator, the plate on the back of the raised seat carries AIRGATOR in a stencil face and AIRBOAT 09 spaced out below it, with a much smaller word between the two that stays below this site’s letter floor. Those two lines read letter by letter on the 4K still, so both halves of the name on this page are Rockstar’s own lettering and nothing is borrowed from a list. The same crop shows the propeller inside its cage, the cushioned seat on a tubular frame, the control stick with a black grip, and a man’s muddy legs in front of the seat.
The Extended Look shows it from dead astern at 17:09.87, under way. A domed wire cage stands at the stern on vertical ribs; inside it sits the engine, a dark block with red plumbing and an exhaust manifold, with a finned radiator low behind it. Two flat vertical vanes stand up behind the cage, one either side of the centreline: the air rudders, which are how an airboat steers. The operator sits high enough that his head and shoulders show above the engine, in a white shirt. Water breaks away from both quarters, and the hull, where it shows, is a dark olive-grey.
The third press still looks straight down on the boat in a channel of duckweed, with alligators in the water around it, the nearest at the bow, and it is the only frame that shows the deck. It is a flat metal deck with low sides, and it is loaded: a white cooler, a green two-seat bench, a chrome grate, a coiled line, a landing net, a white bucket, orange crates and a red can, with the operator at the stick and a man in a red shirt at the bow with a push pole. A fourth still carries the sheriff’s version, and the crop on this page holds SHERIFF in dark capitals on its bow; the rest of that frame, with a blue light bar on top of the cage, two floodlights, two deputies aboard and a second sheriff’s airboat further back in the marsh, is on Jason’s page.
Trailer 2 shows one at 2:18.13 from behind, kicking up spray along a grass channel between trees towards a road bridge on concrete piers with traffic on it; the green cabin at the right edge of the frame, with a figure inside, is not an airboat’s. No GTA has had an airboat before: GTA 5’s Alamo Sea made do with the Dinghy and the Seashark, so this is a new class for the series rather than a returning nameplate.
How to recognise it
- AIRGATOR and AIRBOAT 09 on the plate behind the raised seat, a smaller word between them
- Domed wire propeller cage on vertical ribs at the stern, engine mounted high inside it
- Two flat vertical air rudders behind the cage
- Flat open metal deck with low sides and a raised bench seat on a tubular frame
- Dark olive-grey hull; the sheriff's version carries SHERIFF on the bow
The frame it comes from
The frame is Extended Look at 17:09.87. It is 3840 by 2160, and the vehicle occupies 921 by 864 of it. Also in it: a wooden lookout tower and a clear swamp spring.
How this was measured
| Source | Extended Look, 17:09.87 |
|---|---|
| Frame | 3840 × 2160 |
| Crop | 921 × 864 — a small part of the frame |
| Image check | 27 September 2026 — crop checked against the frame |
| Text check | 28 September 2026 — 66 claims read against the image, 13 corrected |
| Read at | the true pixel grid, 1:1 |
| Lettering | Letter height | Contrast | Reads |
|---|---|---|---|
| AIRGATOR | 37 px | — | every character |
| the smaller word right-aligned under AIRGATOR | 12 px | — | no |
| AIRBOAT 09 | 27 px | — | every character |
| SHERIFF | 30 px | 37 | every character |
These figures come from the dataset, not from the prose above. We measure everything and claim what counts. How we work
What we still do not know
- What Airboat 09 counts from. Nothing suggests an 01 through 08 yet.
- Which sheriff’s office runs the marked airboats. SHERIFF alone names no county, and two are in the frames we have.
- Whether it is confined to the wetlands or will run in open water
- Everything measured: top speed, handling, price, where it spawns
A note on this record
Rebuilt on 22 September 2026 against the 4K masters, with a reading record on seven crops. Three things changed. The page said the raised helm seat was hidden behind the engine from astern; the operator sits high enough that his head and shoulders show above it, which is the seat doing its job. The deck was called a perforated plate; the top-down still shows a flat metal deck and no perforation. And the Trailer 2 frame was described as a wetland of dead trees; the trees along that channel are live pines. The cargo the top-down still shows is now listed, and the sheriff's airboat has its own paragraph. Checked again on 25 September 2026 at 1:1 against every crop on the page. The hunters, the dock and most of the sheriff's airboat lie outside this page's crops, so they now sit in links to the pages that carry those frames whole. The operator's cap came out, as his head is not clear enough to say. The Trailer 1 silhouette came out, as that frame is not on this page. The Trailer 2 frame does not show the camera riding an airboat, and the bridge at the end of the channel is a road bridge on concrete piers with traffic on it, not a truss rail bridge. On 27 September the small word between the two lines came out: measured level, its letters are under the floor this site reads at, so it is no longer printed as read.
Every frame we have
Also in these frames
Measured in the same frames as the images above, but without a page of their own. Same rule as everywhere else: what the crop carries, with the source and the timecode. The ones whose frame no page shows are collected in the frame.
