Crest Kayak

A one-person kayak in orange with the maker's name on the hull, paddled up a national-park river in a press still: crest, in white lowercase, right where you would expect a brand to sit.

The best of our three sightings is the press screenshot, taken from just behind and to the side of the paddler at water level. The hull is bright orange moulded plastic with crest in white lowercase on the side, an arc of curved lines in front of the word and a run of dots after it. Forward of the cockpit there is a black oval hatch with bungee rigging across the deck and a moulded handle at the bow.

The cockpit is a large open one and the paddler sits in it with their legs forward rather than astride: a khaki bucket hat, a red buoyancy aid with black webbing, a light blue long-sleeved top, khaki shorts and sandals. The paddle is a two-blade in the same orange as the hull, mid-stroke on the right, throwing water.

The setting is Mount Kalaga: a green river between rocky banks, a yellow flood gauge marked in feet standing in the shallows on the left, and a steel truss rail bridge on concrete piers crossing the valley behind, with rolling stock on it. A second sighting in the Extended Look shows kayaks on a city waterway instead, with a motor yacht and a water taxi in the same frame.

How to recognise it

• crest in white lowercase on the hull, with an arc mark before it and dots after
• Bright orange moulded hull, large open cockpit
• Black oval deck hatch with bungee rigging forward of the cockpit
• Moulded carry handle at the bow
• Two-blade paddle in matching orange

The frame it comes from

The frame is Extended Look at 17:28.93. It is 1920 by 1080, and the vehicle occupies 422 by 367 of it. Also in it: the elevated rail viaduct, a motor yacht, and Water Taxi.

What we still do not know

• Whether the colour is fixed or one of several. Our two sightings both show orange.
• Whether the kayak is stowable or only found at the water
• Whether the flood gauge beside it is functional or scenery
• Everything measured: speed, handling, where it spawns
