How do you call a taxi in GTA 6?

A taxi is the one vehicle in a Grand Theft Auto that you use by not driving it, which makes it the one vehicle a walkthrough never shows. The material has plenty of cars and, as far as this site can find, no cab on a road. It has one on the water. This page is what that says, and what the last game did.

What the footage shows

At 17:28 of the Extended Look, on the same stretch of city waterway as the kayaks, runs a canopied passenger boat: a yellow hull with a white stripe, a flat roof on posts, yellow rails, and passengers who can be made out one by one under the canopy, several seated along the rail and a man in a hat standing near the middle. It is a boat that carries people who are not driving it, which is the whole idea of a taxi, and it is the only vehicle in the material that does.

No road taxi is in any frame we hold. Nothing shows a cab being hailed, a fare being paid, a ride being skipped or a destination being chosen. The two pieces of machinery a taxi would use are in the footage on their own: the phone, shown as a message card at 23:57, and the minimap, which draws a route to a marker at 15:49.

What nobody knows

• Whether there are road taxis at all, and whether they can be hailed or called.
• Whether the water taxi is something you can ride, or scenery.
• Whether a ride can be skipped, and what it costs.
• Whether a taxi company can be owned, as one could last time.

How Grand Theft Auto V did it

This is the reference, not a prediction. In Grand Theft Auto V taxis patrolling the streets could be hailed, and the Downtown Cab Co. could be called from the phone to send one. A ride, for a fee, went to a preset destination or to a waypoint you had placed on the map. The cab company itself was for sale: the GTA Wiki lists it at two hundred thousand dollars, paying two thousand a week into the bank. A water taxi had no ancestor in that game at all.
