GTA 6, answered
Does GTA 6 have real car brands?
Short answer
No. Every vehicle carries a fictional manufacturer, as in every Grand Theft Auto before it. Thirteen of those manufacturers are legible in official footage so far, on 17 of the 132 vehicles with a page here, and Take-Two's chief executive has ruled out real-world brands in the game entirely.

There is no Ferrari in GTA 6, and there will not be one. There is a Grotti Cheetah, which is shaped like a Testarossa, wears a badge that exists nowhere outside the game, and is parked on Ocean Drive in the first trailer. That distinction is the whole answer, and it has held for every Grand Theft Auto before this one.
The thirteen manufacturers on screen so far
This site names a manufacturer only when Rockstar prints the name itself or the wordmark is legible on the vehicle in official material. By that rule there are thirteen, across 17 of the 132 vehicles with a page here, as the database stood on 23 September 2026.
Rockstar has printed five of them in the alt text and file names of its own images: Grotti, Vapid, Dinka, Crest and Shitzu.
Ten are readable on the bodywork in a frame on this site: Airgator, Canis on a grille, Declasse, Dinka, Hawx, Lürepredator, Maibatsu, Nagasaki, Principe and Vapid on a grille. Two of those, Dinka and Vapid, are on both lists.
Two of them are on the same four engines
Dinka and Nagasaki are the clearest case of what “readable on the bodywork” means here, because both are on something that is not a car at all. One press still of a centre console boat off the Leonida Keys carries four outboards on one transom, and three manufacturer wordmarks across them. Neither brand needs the boat to be named for the badge to count: what is measured is the lettering, and the lettering is there.

The same two names are on land as well: Dinka on the Enduro, which Rockstar also names in its own file name, and Nagasaki on the tail of a supersport in race livery. That is the point of putting the outboards here rather than giving them a page: a manufacturer is not a vehicle, and it does not get an address of its own. It gets counted where it is read.
There is one badge we can see and cannot read: a diamond emblem with two letters inside it, on the boot of the Schafter and on the grille of a black sport sedan. The series has always called that emblem Benefactor, and so do we — but the word is nowhere in the frame, and that is a borrowed reading rather than one of ours.
The list used to be longer. Until 17 September 2026 a manufacturer counted if a community database had it, and by that rule there were nineteen: Bravado, Brute, Buckingham, Mammoth, Pegassi, Western and Übermacht were on it too. All seven rested on an identification we could not check in our own frames, and none of them survived the change of rule. Every named vehicle, and why has the working, name by name.
Most of the thirteen are names the series has carried for years, which is the point: Rockstar treats its manufacturers as a persistent fictional industry rather than as set dressing invented per game. Four — Airgator, Crest, Hawx and Lürepredator — are names this site has not encountered in Rockstar’s earlier material. We have not checked every previous game, so that is an observation about our own catalogue rather than a claim that they are new.
Every vehicle we have read a badge on is on the vehicle index, each with the frame it was read from.
What they are modelled on
The fictional brands map loosely onto real manufacturers, consistently enough across the series that most players read them without thinking: Grotti for Ferrari, Pegassi for Lamborghini, Bravado for Dodge, Declasse for Chevrolet, Vapid for Ford, Benefactor for Mercedes-Benz, Übermacht for BMW. Those pairings come from decades of the series rather than from anything Rockstar has stated, and Rockstar has never published a key. Note which way round that sentence runs: it is a statement about earlier games. Three of the brands in it — Pegassi, Bravado and Übermacht — have not been shown in GTA 6 in any way we can point at, so their appearance here is inherited from earlier games, not evidence about this one. Benefactor is the half-case described above: the emblem is in frame, the word is not.
Individual vehicles are rarely a copy of one car, either. The Cheetah in the trailer reads as a Testarossa. The unnamed red supercar in the Extended Look has been picked apart by the car press as a composite, its nose from one Ferrari, its tail from another, its profile from a third. That is the house style: the silhouette is borrowed, the badge is invented, and the result belongs to nobody.
Why no licences
Rockstar has not explained itself, so the reasoning below is the industry’s rather than the studio’s. A licensing deal carries conditions about how a vehicle may be depicted, and the things a player does to a car in Grand Theft Auto are the things such a contract would forbid. Multiply that across a roster in the hundreds and both the cost and the legal exposure become absurd for a game that is not about cars.
What is on record is broader than vehicles. At the first Interactive Innovation Conference in Las Vegas on 28 April 2026, in an on-stage conversation with Variety, Take-Two chief executive Strauss Zelnick ruled out real-world brand partnerships in GTA 6 on the grounds that all the brands are made up
, and said that keeps the company pure. That covers shop fronts and billboards as well as cars. We have not seen the conversation ourselves, and Variety’s page could not be re-read on 23 September 2026, so it is filed here as reported rather than primary, on the strength of the check of 21 September.
What we do not know
- The manufacturer of the other 115 vehicles on this site, whose badges are not legible in any footage.
- Whether the four manufacturers we have not seen before really are new to this game.
- Whether the seven names we stopped printing are right after all. Several probably are. That is not the same as being able to show you.
- How many manufacturers the finished game contains.
- Whether licensed vehicles could arrive later through an online mode, which has not been announced.
Where this comes from
Every claim above rests on one of these. Anything marked the platform holder is Sony or Microsoft describing their own store or hardware, not Rockstar. Anything marked reported is somebody else telling us what Rockstar said, and is treated as weaker than Rockstar saying it.
