Every named vehicle, and why

This site catalogues Grand Theft Auto VI from the material Rockstar has published: two trailers, a long gameplay showcase, the press pack, the cover art and a set of studio renders. Almost nothing in that material is labelled. This page is the full accounting of which vehicles we put a name to, where each name came from, and which names other people use that we do not.

The rule is one line. A vehicle carries a name here when Rockstar gives that name in its own material, or when the name is legible on the vehicle itself in a frame we can show you. A recognisable in-game emblem counts as lettering under that rule, provided the emblem is on the page. Everything checked below was checked again on 18 September 2026, and the lettering behind the names we read ourselves was re-measured on the true pixel grid on 23 September 2026; where that measurement fell under the twenty pixels this site reads at, it says so under the name. There are 7 names on Rockstar’s authority, 8 we read ourselves, and 18 that this site used to print and no longer does.

7 names Rockstar has published

These come from Rockstar’s own website: the alt text and file names of the images it distributes, and the text of its edition and pre-order material. Where the name is also written on the vehicle in the image, that is noted as well, because a name you can see beats a name you are told.

• ’55 Vapid Stanier — Named in the alt text and in the file names of four studio renders in the Vintage Vice City Pack bundle on rockstargames.com/VI/media. On the vehicle itself: VAPID is spelled out across the bonnet lip and Stanier is written in script on the front wing, both legible at full resolution in the render itself.
• ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy — Named in the alt text and in the file names — ULTIMATE_EDITION_VAPID_BUGGY_01 to _04 — of four studio renders on rockstargames.com/VI/media.
• ’95 Grotti Cheetah — Alt text on rockstargames.com/VI and /VI/media: “A white Grotti Cheetah with a minimalist, retro-futuristic livery is parked in front of Pegassi.” The file names read ULTIMATE_EDITION_GROTTI_CHEETAH_01 to _04, and the editions page names the ’95 Grotti Cheetah in its own text.
• Crest Kayak — Alt text on rockstargames.com/VI and /VI/media: “Jason sailing through the water in an orange Crest Kayak, shirtless”, and again in the line describing what stands outside his safehouse. On the vehicle itself: crest is legible on the hull in the Mount Kalaga press screenshot, so this is one of the names we could have read without being told.
• Dinka Enduro — Alt text on rockstargames.com/VI and /VI/media: “A green Dinka Enduro motorcycle parked outside of a garage”, and again in the safehouse line.
• Shitzu Squalo — Named in the alt text and in the file names — ULTIMATE_EDITION_SQUALO_01 to _04 — of four studio renders on rockstargames.com/VI/media. On the vehicle itself: Squalo is written across the hull in the render itself, with the Shitzu fin mark in front of it.
• Vapid Ganado — Alt text on rockstargames.com/VI and /VI/media: “Jason driving his Vapid Ganado, equipped with a yellow paint job and red racing stripe”, and “The exterior of Jason’s safehouse, with the Vapid Ganado, Dinka Enduro, and Crest Kayak all stationed outside.” The file name reads ULTIMATE_EDITION_VAPID_GANADO_RETRO_BUILD_01. On the vehicle itself: VAPID is spelled out in spaced letters on the tailgate of the truck in our own Trailer 2 frame, which is the same body: same roofline, same C-pillar, same raised bed line, same arches.

8 names we read off the vehicle

Rockstar has never printed these names anywhere. They are on the bodywork, in a frame on the page, and each one is legible character by character at full resolution. Where a published list happens to carry the same name, that is a coincidence of us both looking at the same picture, not our source.

• Airgator Airboat 09 — AIRGATOR and AIRBOAT 09 are both on the rudder plate, legible character by character in a 3840 by 2160 press screenshot.
• BTN Delmar — BTN DELMAR is written across the ship’s hull in Trailer 1 and is sharp. Our own earlier note on this record claimed we had read SETH DELMAR with the B and the T hidden behind a bridge. Re-reading the frame on 17 September 2026 showed that was wrong: it says BTN DELMAR.
• Benefactor Schafter — SCHAFTER is spelled out in separate chrome letters on the boot lid in the Extended Look. One caveat we would rather state than bury: the word Benefactor is not written anywhere on the car. What is there is a diamond emblem with two letters inside it, and Benefactor is what the series has always called that emblem. The model name is ours to read; the maker in front of it is a convention we have inherited. Re-measured on 23 September 2026: the chrome capitals measure 14 px, below the floor, although every letter separates and the contrast is the best in this set. Same position as the Rancher, pending the same decision.
• Bobcat — BOBCAT is pressed into the tailgate in raised capitals, six characters that separate on the true pixel grid at forty pixels of letter height, in the Extended Look at 6:04.90. No maker’s badge is on the truck. The address keeps its description: a slug changes only when the name in it is wrong.
• Lürepredator L35P — LUREPREDATOR and L35P are both on the hull and both sharp in the Extended Look. The outboards on the transom read DINKA, with 350 on the cowling flank.
• Principe Alvino V1 — PRINCIPE is on the tank and ALVINO V1 on the fairing of a 3840 by 2160 press screenshot, with the race number 76 beside them.
• Rancher — Rancher is in script at the right-hand end of the tailgate in Trailer 2, legible on Rockstar’s 3840 by 2160 master. The badge at the other end, where a maker’s name would sit, does not resolve, so Declasse did not come back with it. Re-measured on 23 September 2026 on the true pixel grid: the script measures 12 to 14 px, below the 20 px floor this site reads at. The name stays while the rule for small lettering is being decided; if the floor stands, Rancher becomes a hypothesis and the page is retitled.
• Seashark — SEASHARK runs along the flank in magenta block capitals, legible character by character. The first six letters sit on the lime stripe, the R and the K carry on over the darker hull and hold their shape.

18 names we have given back

Until 17 September 2026 this site accepted a third source for a name: a community vehicle database, credited as theirs. That was a mistake, because a credit at the bottom of a page does not stop a name in the title from reading as a fact. The 18 pages below were retitled for what is in the frame. The identifications did not disappear — most of those pages now carry the name as somebody else’s claim, with the page it came from, the date we read it, and what in our own frame supports it and what does not.

Four of the eighteen carry no claim at all, because the name in question was a description of the type rather than a model name. Nobody is claiming a model name for a bus, and inventing an argument to have one would be worse than the plain description.

Two more carried a claim and no longer do. A source that rests on leaked material is not cited here, not even as somebody else’s claim, because passing it on brings the leak in through the back door however carefully it is labelled. Where the leak supplies only part of a name, and what is left still points at one vehicle, the shorter name stays: the red and black cruiser is on this site as a Sovereign without the number that only the leak attests.

15 readings we corrected or withdrew

Every name on this site that is not Rockstar’s comes from reading the picture. Until 18 September 2026 most of that reading was done on copies at half the linear resolution of the original, because that is what this repository carried. Half resolution does not only hide lettering — it invents it. A number board that read MARTEC at 111 by 178 pixels reads WANTED on the original, and even that was set aside on 23 September: at the board’s tilt the capitals measure eighteen to twenty pixels, on the floor this site reads at, so the board counts as unread.

So every reading was listed with the size of the text at the resolution it was read at, and every one was redone on the original, smallest first. That round finished on 18 September 2026 at 120 readings; on 23 September the sixteen studio renders were cut again from Rockstar’s own bundles rather than from the recompressed copies this repository carried, and their seven readings held. These are the ones that did not survive: nine corrected, six withdrawn because the original does not come apart into letters either, or the letters measure under twenty pixels.

A withdrawal is not a correction: there is no name to replace the old one with. The green street sign that read Calway St is a street sign on this site now, and the reading is an open question on the page that shows it.

What would change any of this

Two things, and both have already happened at least once. Rockstar publishes a name — in a Newswire post, on the product page, in the alt text of an image — and the page moves to it. Or a sharper frame turns up and a badge that was a blur becomes letters. When either happens the page is retitled, the old address redirects, and the change is dated on the page itself. Nothing here is quietly edited.

If you can read something in a frame that we could not, tell us. A correction that names the source and the timecode is usually resolved the same day.
