What consoles will GTA 6 be on?
Short answer
PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Not PlayStation 4, not Xbox One, not Switch 2, and not PC on launch day.

Two platforms, and that list has not changed once since the first trailer in December 2023. Rockstar’s product page also carries a “Plays Best On PlayStation 5” badge, which is a marketing placement rather than a statement about performance.
Will GTA 6 run on your machine?
| Machine | 19 November 2026 | What that rests on |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | Runs GTA 6 | Disc edition, Digital Edition and Slim alike. Rockstar's product page lists PlayStation 5 and adds a "Plays Best On" badge, which is a marketing placement and not a performance claim. |
| PlayStation 5 Pro | Runs GTA 6 | A PS5 Pro plays PS5 games, so it runs GTA 6. Rockstar has never mentioned the Pro specifically: no enhanced mode, no resolution, nothing. |
| Xbox Series X | Runs GTA 6 | Named on Rockstar's product page and in Take-Two's pre-order announcement, and on every listing since the first trailer. |
| Xbox Series S | Runs GTA 6 | Rockstar lists Series X and Series S together and has never separated them. Nothing has been published about how the two differ in this game. |
| PlayStation 4 or PS4 Pro | Does not | Never announced and never listed, on any Rockstar material since the first trailer. Grand Theft Auto V ran on three console generations, which is why this keeps being asked. |
| Xbox One, One S or One X | Does not | Never announced and never listed. Same position as the PS4. |
| Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 | Does not | No announcement of any kind, for either machine. |
| A PC | Does not | No PC version has been announced at all — no date, no store page, no system requirements. Rockstar brought its last two flagship games to PC after the console release, but that is a pattern and not a promise. |

Why the PS4 and Xbox One keep coming up
Because Grand Theft Auto V shipped on three console generations, and a lot of people are still on the machine they played it on. It is a fair thing to expect and it is not happening: the PS4 and Xbox One have never been announced, never been listed, and never appeared on any Rockstar material from the first trailer onward.
Nothing has been said either way about them ever getting a version. After three years of the same two-platform listing, silence is the answer.
What that means in practice
If you are on a Series S, you are getting the game — Rockstar lists Series X and Series S together and has never separated them. What has not been published is anything about how the two differ here: no resolution, no frame rate, no performance modes, no install size on either.
If you are on a PS5 Pro, the game runs, because a PS5 Pro runs PS5 games. Rockstar has never mentioned the Pro specifically — no enhanced mode, nothing. Anyone telling you what GTA 6 does on a Pro is guessing.
What we do not know
- Any performance figures, on any platform.
- Whether the PS5 Pro gets anything of its own.
- Install size on any machine — see how big GTA 6 is.
- Whether there is a multiplayer mode to share with anyone, on any platform — see cross-platform play.

Every claim above rests on one of these. Anything marked reported is somebody else telling us what Rockstar said, and is treated as weaker than Rockstar saying it.
