GTA 6, answered
Does GTA 6 run differently on Xbox Series S or PS5 Pro?
Short answer
GTA 6 is confirmed for PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, the same game and editions on all four. Sony's store lists it as PS5 Pro Enhanced without numbers; Rockstar has published no console-specific figures for any of the four.

Four consoles, one game. Whether they all play it the same way is a separate question, and Rockstar has only answered part of it.
What is confirmed for all four
GTA 6 launches 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Rockstar’s own listings name the two console families and nothing else, and every official listing carries the same editions on both; the platform question itself is on our consoles page. Sony’s blog describes a close partnership under which the game “will play best on PS5”, which is a marketing claim about DualSense features and the SSD, not a difference in content: the Xbox release is the same day with the same editions. There is no cheaper, cut-down edition sold separately for any platform.
PS5 Pro: the one console with an official tag
The PlayStation Store lists GTA 6 as PS5 Pro Enhanced. That is a specification line on Sony’s listing, with no explanation, resolution or frame-rate figure attached to it, and it is Sony’s label rather than a Rockstar statement. Reporting on a Rockstar North studio visit in August 2026 describes the game running at 30fps on console during development; whether that figure covered the Pro depends on which retelling you read. If it did, the Pro’s advantage would be stability and image quality rather than a higher frame rate, at least at launch. See our page on whether GTA 6 runs at 60fps for that report in full.
Xbox Series S: confirmed to run it, unconfirmed how
Series S is included in every official “Xbox Series X|S” listing Rockstar has published, so the console is confirmed to run the game. What Rockstar has not published is any Series S detail: resolution, draw distance, or whether its smaller storage, 512 GB or 1 TB depending on the model, changes anything about install size. Outside estimates describe likely graphical trade-offs on the weaker hardware, in line with how Series S has compared to Series X on other big releases, but none of that comes from Rockstar and it should be read as informed guessing rather than a confirmed downgrade.
What we do not know
- Resolution or frame-rate numbers for any of the four consoles.
- Whether Series S has a smaller install than Series X, or the same one.
- What, specifically, the PS5 Pro Enhanced label buys in this game.
- Whether saves or play cross between PlayStation and Xbox; see the cross-platform page.
Where this comes from
Every claim above rests on one of these. Anything marked the platform holder is Sony or Microsoft describing their own store or hardware, not Rockstar. Anything marked reported is somebody else telling us what Rockstar said, and is treated as weaker than Rockstar saying it.
