Starlet Motel

The sign is built in tiers. A band studded with warm white bulbs frames the left side of the main panel, bends over its top and ends in an arrowhead pointing right, above the panel’s top right corner. The bulbs cover the band and the whole head, and two short red-brown stubs join the arrow to the top of the panel. Until 27 September 2026 this page called the arrow chase-lit and outlined in bulbs: the bulbs fill it rather than trace it, and whether they light in sequence is something a still cannot show.

The main panel is a weathered grey-green board with brown stains along its top edge near the right corner. Starlet runs across it in warm white neon script, and beneath it is MOTEL in large cream block capitals, the T much darker than the other four letters. Under the left end of the panel is VACANCY, in red neon capitals in a dark box. Until 27 September this page called that box red; only the neon is.

Lower down, centred under the main panel, are two more boards. The upper one is a dark oval board with vertical ribs, reading KING SIZE BEDS over LOW RATES in cream capitals; the K of KING is much dimmer than the letters after it, and the I between them barely shows. The lower one is pale, with POOL & WIFI in dark capitals. Four birds sit along the top edge of the oval board and two more on top of the arrow.

Two dark red poles run down from the sign: a straight one from under the right end of the VACANCY box and a slanted one from under the right half of the main panel. Both pass behind the lower boards and leave the crop at the bottom, with a thinner grey post beside the straight one and a black cable sagging between them under the main panel. Until 27 September this page put one pole under the main panel and the other under the oval board. Behind the sign are a lattice mast with round antennas at the left and the dark shapes of pines, against a deep blue sky with cloud to the right.

Until 27 September this page described them as part of this crop.

What the sign gives is a name and four promises: king size beds, low rates, a pool and wifi. Nothing in this crop shows the rooms or the way in.
