Starlet Motel

The source frame, with Starlet Motel marked
Press pack · snt-00069 · usable frame

A motel sign in Port Gellhorn with a chase-lit arrow, Starlet in script, MOTEL in block letters and VACANCY below it.

The sign is the full mid-century roadside type: a tall pole, an arrow outlined in bulbs curving over the top, Starlet in a neon script and MOTEL underneath in large block letters. Beneath that, a red VACANCY panel, and beneath that two more boards reading KING SIZE BEDS, LOW RATES and POOL & WIFI.

Behind it the motel itself is a low building with a red neon MOTEL arrow on the gable. A truck and a car are parked in front, and the light is the blue of just after sunset.

Everything about it is period-correct for the roadside motels the Florida panhandle actually has, which is what makes it fit Port Gellhorn.

How to recognise it

  • A bulb-outlined arrow curving over the top of the sign
  • Starlet in neon script, MOTEL in block letters
  • A red VACANCY panel
  • Two boards: KING SIZE BEDS, LOW RATES and POOL & WIFI
  • A second red neon MOTEL arrow on the building

The frame it comes from

What we still do not know

  • Whether rooms can be rented as a save point
  • Whether the motel is enterable
  • Whether it has a story role
  • Whether the VACANCY panel changes
