Kayaking

Extended Look · snt-00039 · 17:28.93 · usable frame · n.v.t. · 3840 × 2160 px © Rockstar Games The whole frame at 3840 × 2160, scaled down to fit — never enlarged. This is a press still of the subject itself, so the whole frame is the crop and there is nothing to mark.

A kayak on a green river in Mount Kalaga, paddle mid-stroke, with a steel truss bridge behind and a water gauge marked in feet beside it, and a second one of the same make on a city waterway.

The press screenshot catches the moment the paddle bites: spray off the blade, the hull sitting low, the paddler in a wide-brimmed hat and a red buoyancy aid over a blue long-sleeved sun shirt. The kayak is orange and carries crest in white lower case on the hull after a wave device, with a smaller word beside it that does not resolve. That is the manufacturer already confirmed on the Crest Kayak page; the height is in the lettering table.

The setting is Mount Kalaga: a slow green river, trees on both banks, and a steel truss bridge across the river in the background with a train on it. At the left a yellow water gauge reads FLOOD GAUGE over FEET, numbered 6 down to 2, its reflection running down into the water.

It is one of the quieter things in the official material and one of the more telling. A kayak is not a vehicle you steal; it is a vehicle you use because being on the river is the point.

A second frame, in the Extended Look at 17:28.93, puts a green kayak of the same make on a city waterway. The camera sits behind a woman paddling it, a red claw clip in her hair and a dark bikini top, an orange-bladed paddle mid-stroke, the maker’s word running vertically on the bow and a wave device beside the hatch. A man in a yellow kayak paddles ahead at the right, a canopied boat with yellow rails and a dark yacht sit further up the channel, and towers and an elevated viaduct stand behind them; a minimap sits at the lower left.

How to recognise it

  • An orange kayak with crest in lower case after a wave device
  • A double-bladed paddle mid-stroke, with spray
  • A wide-brimmed hat and a red buoyancy aid over a blue sun shirt
  • A steel truss bridge with a train on it, and a numbered flood gauge
  • On a river in Mount Kalaga National Park
  • A second, green kayak of the same make on a city waterway in the Extended Look

These figures come from the dataset, not from the prose above. We measure everything and claim what counts. How we work

What we still do not know

  • Whether kayaks are rented, bought or found
  • Whether there is a paddling system or whether it handles like a boat
  • Whether the rivers connect through to the swamp
  • Whether you can capsize
