A stainless 1911-pattern pistol seen from beneath a glass tabletop, roll-marked AUTOMATIC CAL 45, with four loose cartridges beside it.

The pistol fills the upper left of the ninth Jason Duval still, and the camera looks up at it from beneath a glass tabletop: the wooden planks and beams behind it are the ceiling. The finish is a matte silver-grey, the grips are checkered brown wood held by a slotted screw, and the shape is the 1911 pattern, with an exposed, checkered hammer spur, a rear sight on the slide, serrations at the back of the slide and a curved trigger. Through the ejection port shows the polished hood of the barrel, and below the port runs a roll mark that reads AUTOMATIC CAL 45 in full on the true pixel grid, so the calibre this page once listed as running off the edge of the frame is on the gun.

The muzzle end is a plain barrel in a bushing, with a blade front sight on the slide above it and a checkered recoil spring plug beneath it. This page claimed until 20 September 2026 that there were cuts along the top of the barrel near the muzzle, porting or a compensator, and built on it the argument that weapons in this game can be modified; the claim is withdrawn, as the checkered part is the recoil spring plug. Below the muzzle, four brass cartridges with round-nosed copper bullets sit on the glass, two standing on their bases so that the primers face the camera and two on their sides, one of those apart from the rest, and the corner of a pale printed sheet shows at the bottom right.

An arm comes into the crop at the right edge, out of focus; the rest of Jason Duval, standing over the table, lies outside it.

What the frame does not give is a maker: the roll mark names the action and the calibre and nothing else, and the part of the slide in view carries no other word. Nor does it settle the details that tell one 1911 from another: no thumb safety shows on this side, and whether the grip safety has a beavertail does not show from this angle. In GTA 5 the 1911 pattern belongs to the Heavy Pistol, which the GTA Wiki matches to an Entreprise Wide Body 1911 with a rail under the frame; the standard Pistol there is a Taurus PT92 with a slide made to look partly like a 1911.

How to recognise it

  • Matte silver-grey finish, checkered brown wooden grips with a slotted screw
  • 1911 pattern: exposed checkered hammer spur, rear slide serrations, curved trigger, barrel bushing
  • A roll mark below the ejection port reading AUTOMATIC CAL 45
  • A checkered recoil spring plug under the muzzle, and no porting on the barrel
  • Four loose brass cartridges, two of them standing on their bases

The frame it comes from

The frame is a still from the official Press pack, which carries no timecode. It is 3840 by 2160, and the subject occupies 1843 by 1641 of it. Also in it: Jason Duval.

How this was measured

Source Press pack
Frame 3840 × 2160
Crop 1843 × 1641 — a good part of the frame
Image check 25 September 2026 — crop checked against the frame
Text check 25 September 2026 — 64 claims read against the image, 9 corrected
Read at the true pixel grid, 1:1
Lettering Letter height Contrast Reads
AUTOMATIC CAL 45 20 px — every character

These figures come from the dataset, not from the prose above. We measure everything and claim what counts. How we work

What we still do not know

  • Its in-game name
  • Whether this is the same pistol Jason carries in other frames
  • The maker. The roll mark names the action and the calibre, and the slide carries nothing we can read.
  • Whether any weapon in this material is modified at all. This page was the strongest evidence for it until 20 September 2026, and the porting turned out to be a standard recoil spring plug.

A note on this record

Rebuilt on 22 September 2026 against the 4K press still, with a reading record on the crop. One correction: the roll mark does not run off the edge of the frame. On the true pixel grid it reads AUTOMATIC CAL 45 in full, so the calibre is on the gun and the open question about it is closed. The withdrawal of 20 September stands: the muzzle carries a standard recoil spring plug and no porting. Checked again on 25 September 2026 at 1:1. The pistol does not lie on a wooden table: it lies on glass and is seen from beneath, with the ceiling behind it, so the table and what lies on it are in the crop, not outside it, and nothing shows that it is a kitchen. The finish is matte, not bright. Single-stack, the beavertail and the thumb safety were not in the picture, two of the cartridges stand rather than lie, and the height recorded for the roll mark was measured on the slant; level, it still reads. The claim that this is the sharpest weapon image in the press pack went, as it speaks for other frames, The line on GTA 5's Heavy Pistol has been checked against the GTA Wiki and stays, in plainer words.
