Palaestra Tower
A fluted, uplit drum over a podium in downtown Vice City, with PALAESTRA TOWER painted on the podium wall in red. The name is on the building itself, not on a hoarding beside it.
What the screenshot shows
A round tower with vertical flutes running its full height, lit from below so that each flute splits into a light face and a dark one. It rises out of a plain rectangular podium.
On the side wall of that podium is a mural: a red field with PALAESTRA TOWER across the top in two lines of capitals, and below the name a figure in yellow and blue. All fifteen characters of the name come apart on the 3840×2160 master. Because the mural is on the podium and not on a free standing board, the name belongs to this building.
A tree in front of the podium covers the lower part of the mural. Behind and to the right runs an elevated road with gantry signs over it.
How to recognise it
- A round tower with vertical flutes, lit from below
- A plain rectangular podium under the drum
- A red mural on the podium wall with the name in two lines
- A figure in yellow and blue painted below the name
The frame it comes from
The frame is a still from the official Press pack, which carries no timecode. It is 3840 by 2160, and the subject occupies 334 by 400 of it. Also in it: Vice City, Sahara Arena, Vice City Arts Center, The Sumerian, a concert hall on the square, and the Galina opera house.
How this was measured
| Source | Press pack |
|---|---|
| Frame | 3840 × 2160 |
| Crop | 334 × 400 — a small part of the frame |
These figures come from the dataset, not from the prose above. We measure everything and claim what counts. How we work
What we still do not know
- What the tower is for. Nothing in the frame says offices, flats or hotel.
- What the figure in the mural is.
- Whether the lower line of the mural, behind the tree, carries more text.
Every frame we have
Also in these frames
Measured in the same frames as the images above, but without a page of their own. Same rule as everywhere else: what the crop carries, with the source and the timecode. The ones whose frame no page shows are collected in the frame.
