Ambrosia County

The source frame, with Ambrosia County marked
Press pack · snt-00067 · placeholder frame

A roadside sign for the Ambrosia County Sheriff's Office, with TURN AHEAD beneath it, on the highway into town.

Where it sits

Nowhere Rockstar has said. The counties are not on rockstargames.com, which describes six regions and no county, and Rockstar has published no map. How Ambrosia County relates to those six regions is unknown; the map question sets out what does and does not exist.

The name appears in exactly one official frame, the sheriff’s office sign on the road the motorcycle club rides down in the Ambrosia sequence of the press pack. That puts the sign near the town that shares its name; it does not say whether the county contains the town, or how far it runs. Rockstar’s description of Ambrosia mentions a refinery and a biker gang and no county.

What the frame shows

The sign is the standard American green-and-white highway type, mounted on a post beside the verge, reading Ambrosia County over Sheriffs Office over TURN AHEAD.

It stands on the road the motorcycle club rides down in the same frame, which puts law enforcement and the club on the same stretch of highway — a piece of staging rather than an accident.

Ambrosia County is one of three county names the material gives us, alongside Dale and Kelly.

How to recognise it

  • A green-and-white highway sign
  • Ambrosia County Sheriff's Office, with TURN AHEAD
  • Mounted on the verge of the road into town
  • In the same frame as the Final Chapter motorcycle club

The frame it comes from

The frame is a still from the official Press pack, which carries no timecode. It is 3840 by 2160, and the subject occupies 461 by 281 of it. Also in it: Ambrosia and Western Sovereign.

What we still do not know

  • Where the sheriff's office actually is
  • Whether county sheriffs behave differently from city police
  • How the county relates to the town of Ambrosia
  • Whether there are more counties
