Brian Heder

Press pack · snt-00054 · usable frame · n.v.t. · 3840 × 2160 px © Rockstar Games The whole frame at 3840 × 2160, scaled down to fit — never enlarged. This is a press still of the subject itself, so the whole frame is the crop and there is nothing to mark.

An older man in loud shirts who turns up in four official screenshots, twice with Jason, and whose first name is in the name of a boat yard: Brian's Boat Works & Marina.

What Rockstar says about him

Rockstar’s page calls him a classic drug runner from the golden age of smuggling in the Keys, still moving product through his boat yard with his third wife, Lori, and around long enough to let others do his dirty work. It does not name the yard. In the frames we have, the boat yard with his first name on it is Brian’s Boat Works & Marina, whose sign reads in full at 1:25 of Trailer 2; that this is where the product moves through is the obvious reading, not a stated fact.

The page also explains the hand on Jason’s shoulder. Brian lets Jason live rent-free at one of his properties, as long as he helps with local shakedowns and stops by for Lori’s sangria once in a while. Rockstar’s own captions add two things: in the car, Jason is the one behind the wheel, and beside the pickup Brian is giving Jason a handgun. The woman beside them is not named in that caption, so whether she is Lori stays open. Rockstar has not credited an actor for Brian.

In the press pack

The four press screenshots give a consistent picture: green mirrored glasses, grey hair pulled back, a grey goatee, gold on the wrist, and a shirt with something printed on it in every single frame. In the first he leans out of the passenger window of a light-coloured car with his arm on the sill, a bird tattooed on his shoulder, a gold bracelet, and a younger man in a red backwards cap at the wheel behind him, Jason in Rockstar’s caption. In the second he leans on a teal rail under string lights at the waterside, a paisley bandana on his head, in a dark sleeveless top carrying a Kenny Brewster print, two cans on the rail beside him and a second man leaning over the same rail behind.

In the third he holds up a taped, brick-shaped package in one hand and points with the other at a man in a purple vest, a gold chain and a headset, under the riveted underside of a wing, at a plane in Rockstar’s caption, in a cream shirt printed with palms and umbrellas and the green glasses pushed up on his head. In the fourth he stands beside a grey pickup in a red palm-frond shirt, holding out a black pistol grip-first to Jason Duval, who has his hand open for it, while a blonde woman in a tie-dye top with a rose tattoo holds his arm and his other arm reaches round to Jason’s shoulder. The two hands do not touch yet: the weapon is offered, not taken.

The strongest thread runs through a name. Jason wears a cap reading Brian’s in another press shot, a floatplane carries Brian’s in blue script on its nose, and the sign over the boat shed at 1:25 of Trailer 2 reads Brian’s Boat Works & Marina in full. A named older man, a named business with his first name on it, and a protagonist wearing the cap: the pictures connect the three without spelling the connection out, and Rockstar’s site, above, comes closest by giving him a boat yard, though not its name.

The fourth shot puts him and Jason face to face, outdoors, with a hand on Jason’s shoulder and a pistol changing hands. The first has them in the same car: Rockstar’s caption puts Jason behind the wheel, and the driver wears the same red backwards cap Jason wears in the fourth.

What the screenshots show

  • Named by Rockstar's own press pack: People/Brian Heder
  • Green mirrored sunglasses in two shots, on his face in the pickup and pushed up on his head with the package
  • Grey hair pulled back and a grey goatee, with a paisley bandana at the rail
  • A printed shirt in all four official screenshots
  • Shares a frame with Jason Duval twice: at the wheel beside him, in Rockstar's caption, and face to face, hand on his shoulder, a pistol held out grip-first
  • His first name is in Brian's Boat Works & Marina; Rockstar's page gives him a boat yard but does not name it

Who plays Brian?

Almost certainly Stephen Root, and it is worth being precise about how we know. On 13 September 2026, at the BAFTA TV Tea Party in Beverly Hills, an Associated Press reporter asked Root whether he was in GTA 6. He answered Yeah, you’re going to see me in that, and added that his character had been in Rockstar’s marketing since what he described as the first rollout, almost a year earlier, and that too many people recognise his voice from King of the Hill for the secret to have held.

What he did not do is say which character. The identification with Brian comes from reporting that matched the voice in Rockstar’s footage to Root; the four official screenshots on this page are silent, so it is not a match we can make ourselves. Rockstar has credited nobody, for Brian or for anyone else. See who the GTA 6 voice actors are for what is confirmed and what is not.

The frame it comes from

The frame is a still from the official Press pack, which carries no timecode. It is 3840 by 2160, and the subject occupies 3840 by 2160 of it.

How this was measured

Source Press pack
Frame 3840 × 2160
Crop 3840 × 2160 — the whole frame
Image check 25 September 2026 — crop checked against the frame
Text check 28 September 2026 — 64 claims read against the image, 6 corrected
Read at the true pixel grid, 1:1
Lettering Letter height Contrast Reads
Kenny Brewster 60 px — every character
the lettering on the two cans on the rail 18 px — no

These figures come from the dataset, not from the prose above. We measure everything and claim what counts. How we work

What we still do not know

  • Whether Brian’s Boat Works & Marina is his boat yard, whether you can go there, and what the shakedowns Rockstar mentions look like in play
  • What is in the taped package in the third shot. The frame shows the wrapping and nothing else, and this page called it a ledger until 20 September 2026.
  • Whether the woman in the pickup shot is Lori
  • Who plays him: Stephen Root by voice, though Root confirmed only that he is in the game, not which character

A note on this record

Rebuilt on 22 September 2026 against the 4K stills, with a reading record on all four crops. One correction: in the first shot he is the passenger, leaning out of the window, and the younger man in the red cap is at the wheel; the page had them the other way round. The bandana, the goatee and the second man at the rail are in, and the pistol handover of the fourth shot, put right on the sighting record on 21 September, is now described as the frame shows it. Checked again on 25 September 2026 at 1:1, and against Rockstar's captions. In the third shot Brian holds the package himself and points at the man in the purple vest, who wears a headset; overhead is the riveted underside of a wing, and Rockstar's caption puts them at a plane, not under the awning of a boat. Rockstar's caption also names the driver of the first shot as Jason, which the page had called unsaid. Jason's cap reads Brian's and the floatplane Brian's and the end of Marina; the full name is on the sign at the boat shed, and the page now says so inside links to the marina and the floatplane, whose pages show them.
