Press pack · snt-00050 · usable frame · detail · 614 × 972 px © Rockstar Games The whole frame at 3840 × 2160, scaled down to fit — never enlarged. The box marks the crop exactly as we measured it, and that crop is the detail alongside, at its true size.

A wooden baseball bat gripped low on the handle and rising out of the crop, in a grow room in the second Port Gellhorn still.

The crop holds a bare forearm and a hand, gripping a wooden bat low on the handle, about a hand’s width above the knob, with the barrel rising to the upper right and out of the right-hand edge of the crop. Faint streaks run along the wood, and the handle is paler than the barrel, which darkens as it rises. It is not being swung. The rest of the man holding it, the shirtless one in sunglasses on the right of the second Port Gellhorn still, the bat on his shoulder, is outside the crop.

The room behind the hand is a grow room: cannabis plants fill the crop, their serrated leaves lit yellow-green, with a bright bar of light at the top right and a pale surface glinting behind the leaves. The leaves nearest the camera are dark against it, and those lower down catch the light.

The bat carries no tape and no marking that shows at this size, and nothing about it is anything but plain wood. Whether it is a weapon the player can pick up, and whether melee has a slot of its own, are questions for the game rather than for this frame.

Melee weapons run through the series, and GTA 5 had a bat too, but an aluminium one with markings on it, a Ballas B among them, unlocked in the mission Franklin and Lamar rather than bought at a counter. This one is plain wood.

How to recognise it

  • A wooden bat with a paler handle and a darker barrel
  • Gripped low on the handle by a bare forearm, the barrel rising out of the crop
  • A grow room full of cannabis plants under yellow-green light

The frame it comes from

The frame is a still from the official Press pack, which carries no timecode. It is 3840 by 2160, and the subject occupies 614 by 972 of it. Also in it: Port Gellhorn.

These figures come from the dataset, not from the prose above. We measure everything and claim what counts. How we work

What we still do not know

  • Whether there are other melee weapons
  • Whether melee has its own slot on the weapon wheel
  • Its in-game name
  • Whether the grow room is a mission location or a business

A note on this record

Rebuilt on 22 September 2026 against the 4K press still, with a reading record on the crop. The sunglasses and the tattoos the page put on the man holding the bat are above the crop, which holds his forearm and the bat; the page now describes what the crop shows and says where the rest is. The correction of 20 September stands: the bat belongs to the shirtless man on the right, not to the seated man in the white vest. Checked again on 25 September 2026 at 1:1. The bat leaves the crop at its right-hand edge, not the top, and in the still it ends near the top edge rather than running out of it. The pots and the lamps, the man holding the bat and the man in the white vest are outside the crop; the holder is now named in the link to the Port Gellhorn page, which shows the whole still, and the note above keeps the correction about the man in the vest. The claim that this is the only melee weapon in the official material went, as it speaks for other frames. The line that GTA 5 sold this bat at every Ammu-Nation was wrong on two counts according to the GTA Wiki: that game's bat is aluminium, and it is unlocked in a mission, not sold; the page now says so. The open question about the weapon wheel no longer describes a frame this page does not show.
