Ocean Drive

Neon along the hotel strip, sports cars parked nose-in at the kerb and a crowd in the road. Ocean Drive is the street the series has been building towards for twenty years.

The frame is taken from the middle of the road looking down the strip. Art deco hotel facades are lit in pink, purple and cyan along the left. Cars are parked nose-in at an angle the whole length of the kerb — a red coupe, a cyan sports car, a white convertible.

People are standing in the carriageway rather than on the pavement, which is what makes it a scene rather than a street: this is the strip on a night when it is busy.

A second frame of the same promenade in daylight shows umbrellas, sunbathers and parked sports cars, so the street is photographed at both ends of the day.

• Which of the parked cars are drivable
