The income tax office

The source frame, with The income tax office marked
Press pack · snt-00125 · placeholder frame

A small tax preparation office in a street of murals, with INCOME TAX in the window.

The shop is one unit in a painted parade: a glass front, a hand-lettered sign, and the words INCOME TAX visible in the glazing. Either side of it the walls carry large murals.

A storefront tax preparer is a very specific American business, seasonal and cash-driven, and putting one here is the kind of detail that makes a neighbourhood read as lived-in rather than generic.

It is one of the few businesses in the material that is neither food, drink nor vehicles.

How to recognise it

  • INCOME TAX in the shop window
  • A small single-unit shop front in a painted parade
  • Hand-lettered signage
  • Murals on the walls either side

  • Whether its name is visible in an uncropped frame
  • Whether it can be robbed
  • Which district the parade is in
