Characters
Jason Duval
One of the two leads, and with Lucia the most photographed person in the press pack: Rockstar files twenty-three of its ninety-nine press screenshots under his name, ten of them his alone and thirteen shared with her.
What Rockstar says about him
Rockstar’s own character page gives him a past and a job. He grew up around grifters and crooks, did a stint in the Army to shake off a troubled adolescence, and ended up in the Keys working for local drug runners. The page’s one-line summary is that he wants an easy life and things keep getting harder.
That fills in two things the screenshots only hint at. The cap reading Brian’s, and the ‘s and rina left on the seaplane’s flank beside him, point at Brian’s Boat Works & Marina, and Rockstar’s page for Brian Heder, a drug runner in the Keys, has him still moving product through his boat yard and letting Jason live rent-free at one of his properties in return for help with local shakedowns. It does not name the yard: that it is this one is the obvious reading, not a stated fact. The screenshots themselves do not say where the bar or the boat are; the Keys come from Rockstar’s text, not from the pictures.
On Lucia the page is deliberately open. Meeting her, it says, could be the best or the worst thing to happen to him, and he does not yet know which. One short quote, because it is the line the story hangs on: It might be time to try something new.
The edition material on the same site names his sidearm as the Girardi ES9 pistol and his pickup as a Vapid Ganado, which has its own page here. Neither name appears in the press screenshots, so both stand as Rockstar’s words rather than as sightings.

In the press pack
Rockstar’s own press pack files him under People/Jason Duval, which is where the name comes from. Ten screenshots sit in that folder and thirteen more in People/Jason and Lucia, so almost a quarter of the ninety-nine press screenshots are filed under him, exactly as many as under Lucia. That is worth stating plainly, because it is the clearest signal we have about who the game is about. In one of the thirteen, a rooftop party, the only man who could be him is out of focus behind her, and he cannot be recognised from the picture alone.
The ten solo shots cover a wide spread of life. He stands beside a green sportbike with the number 76 on its fairing and PRINCIPE on the tank, a pistol held loosely at his side; sits at the wheel of an older car with a bench seat, cap backwards, in a white tank top with a palm print and LEONIDA across it, the first letter behind the wheel; fishes from a boat in mirrored sunglasses; leans against a tree on a street lined with neon at night with a phone in his hand; aims an AR-pattern carbine on a rooftop above the city under hard coloured lights; and sits at a bar in a cap that reads Brian’s, a green bottle in his hand and beside him a bottle labelled in the same red script as the Patriot sign on the wall. Five of the ten put a gun in his hands and one a phone; in another a pistol lies in the foreground while he loads a magazine.
The recurring details are clothes and company. A backwards cap shows up twice, at the wheel of the old car and beside the seaplane, and he is often photographed beside someone else: a man with binoculars on the boat, a friend in a palm-print bucket hat at the bar. In the thirteen shots with Lucia he is at the wheel in three, and in two of the thirteen he holds a carbine while she holds a pistol.
He is also the character the game puts next to a seaplane. In one screenshot he stands against the fuselage of a single-engine floatplane that carries the name of Brian’s Boat Works & Marina along its side, read in part behind him, a pistol in his hand and a police boat on the water behind him. That is three named things in one frame, and all three have their own page in this database. Until 22 September 2026 this page counted three weapons and two phones in the solo shots, had him at the wheel in about half the shared ones, gave him a suppressed rifle and put the full marina name on his cap; the counts are five and one, three of thirteen, no suppressed rifle is in any frame, and the cap reads Brian’s with a second line under this site’s letter floor. Until 25 September it had him walking on the neon street, called the bucket hat camouflage and made him the single most photographed person; he leans against a tree, the hat carries palm leaves, and Lucia’s count is the same as his.

- Filed with Lucia Caminos in thirteen of the twenty-three
- Seen with a pistol and an AR-pattern carbine in different shots
Who plays Jason?
Rockstar has credited no actor for Jason or Lucia, and has published no cast list at all. One actor has confirmed himself: on 13 September 2026 Stephen Root said he is in the game, without naming a character, and reporting identifies him by voice as Brian Heder. Names circulate online for both leads; none come from Rockstar or from the actors, and this site does not repeat them. The one exception is a denial: Troy Baker, long named as Jason, said in April 2024 that it is not him. This section changes the day Rockstar names the cast, with the source linked.
Jason and Lucia
Rockstar’s synopsis is about the two of them as a pair, not about either alone. They have always known the deck is stacked against them; an easy score goes wrong; and they end up in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida, in Rockstar’s words forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive
. That is the whole plot Rockstar has released, and it is the frame for every shared screenshot.
Thirteen of the press screenshots have both of them in it, and every one is on Lucia’s page as well. In the order of the press pack:
- Jason and Lucia with the city behind, a pistol in her hand against his chest, a helicopter over the water
- Jason and Lucia in a vault with banknotes in the air, both with carbines, the vault door open
- Lucia leaning on a convertible's door, Jason at the wheel with his hair loose and a cup in his hand, skyline behind
- The jewellery store robbery: Jason with the carbine, Lucia with a pistol raised, a display case shattering, bystanders with hands up
- Through a glass doorway into a lit passage: Jason and Lucia standing in a group of five, seen from outside
- Jason at the wheel with a pistol in his hand, Lucia in the passenger seat holding one as well
- Jason and Lucia from below under a turquoise strip light, both armed, a claw hammer tucked into Jason's waistband
- Jason and Lucia with their backs to the camera, facing a burning car, a red case and a carbine for her, a duffel bag and a pistol for him
- Jason and Lucia on a dirt bike with a police car right behind, Lucia aiming a pistol backwards, a helicopter above and a Ferris wheel behind
- A rooftop party under a deep blue sky with the skyline behind, Lucia in the foreground with a cocktail
- Jason and Lucia in a dark red convertible on the coast, Lucia holding a pistol up, Jason at the wheel with his hair loose
- Jason with the carbine and Lucia with a pistol at an opening in a dark concrete room, police lights outside
- Jason and Lucia embracing at the water's edge with the sun behind them, airboats with blue lights and a helicopter around them

These figures come from the dataset, not from the prose above. We measure everything and claim what counts. How we work
What we still do not know
- How the Army stint and the drug-running work Rockstar describes play into the story
- How the two protagonists are switched, and whether it is free or story-driven
- Whether the relationship with Lucia is fixed or something the player steers
- Who plays him: Rockstar has not credited the cast
Every frame we have
Also in these frames
Measured in the same frames as the images above, but without a page of their own. Same rule as everywhere else: what the crop carries, with the source and the timecode. The ones whose frame no page shows are collected in the frame.
