Floatplane

A radial engine in a blue cowling, photographed close enough to see the pushrod tubes and the cylinder fins, with a float in the water below and mangrove behind; and, a moment later in the same shot, the cabin door open with a man's arm on the wing strut.

The camera sits just off the nose, low and close, so the engine fills the middle of the first crop and the cabin and fuselage run off to the left. The wing enters at the top left and runs out of the crop at the right, white with blue stripes, and the water and the mangrove fill the background, with two white wading birds standing in the shallows at the right. Until 23 September 2026 this page had the wing running out to the left.

The engine is a radial. The cowling is painted mid-blue with a line of rivets round its front edge, not the polished ring the text carried until 23 September, and the cylinder heads stand out around the hub with their cooling fins and pushrod tubes in plain view, behind a dark domed spinner and the transparent arc of the turning propeller. How many cylinders is not something this frame decides: the finned blocks around the hub come out between ten and twelve depending on where one ends, and a single-row radial cannot have an even number, so the page gives no count. The meta description and the text still said nine until 23 September.

Below the engine a float sits in the water on silver struts, with a dark strip along its top, which is what makes this a floatplane rather than a wheeled aircraft parked at the water’s edge. Behind the cowling, on the side of the nose, is an oval grilled intake, and further back the white fuselage carries a blue stripe with a word painted vertically along it. That word lies in shadow and out of focus and does not separate into letters on the true pixel grid, so the page carries no name from it.

The second crop comes a moment later in the same shot: the cabin door open, the riveted pale-grey skin, a window with the seat behind it, the instrument panel lit red inside, and a man’s arm with a gold bracelet holding the wing strut that runs across the crop, the edge of a purple vest at the right.
