Circuit racing

A proper circuit race on a wet track: sixteen cars, two laps, a debris fence and a full race readout in the corner, at 17:41 of the Extended Look.

The Extended Look frame puts the camera behind a white touring car with a rear wing, mid-corner on a wet surface. Ahead of it the field runs three abreast into the corner, throwing spray. A white line marks the edge of the track, with red paint on the run-off beyond it and puddles standing on the red; the concrete barriers are blocks in plain black and white, with a small sign on the end of one, and behind them rise a chain-link debris fence and a light mast. Beyond the fence stand a long dark hoarding, a yellow marquee and trees rather than a grandstand.

The HUD tells you what kind of event it is. LAP 1/2 in the bottom right corner. Position 11/16 on a chequered strip. A running time to hundredths, 00:18.12. A minimap bottom left with the circuit drawn on it and the field as dots.

The car directly ahead carries VB in blackletter on its rear window, with sponsor decals under it and IMOFF across the rear bumper; the car in green livery at the left carries the number 43 on its rear quarter, and the black coupe further ahead a white race number laid so flat on its sloping rear window that it is too low to read. The cars are touring-car and muscle shaped rather than supercars. This is a racing series, with liveries, numbers and a grid. The camera car is eleventh of sixteen, so the car ahead of it is not the leader.

GTA 5’s story mode had street races and no circuit; a permanent track with a debris fence and painted run-off is new on the map, and the open question is whether it is the raceway signposted by a billboard.

The frame is Extended Look at 17:41.80. It is 3840 by 2160, and the subject occupies 3840 by 2160 of it. Also in it: the race circuit, a white race sedan, a black muscle race car, a race coupe number 88, and a race car in green livery.

A note on this record

Until 22 September 2026 this page read the window mark as a U and then a B or an R, put a pit wall and a grandstand on the circuit, and had the car ahead leading. On 25 September 2026 three more things came out: red and white kerbs, advertising on the barriers and IMOFF on the bootlid. The edge paint is a red run-off, the barriers are plain, and IMOFF sits on the bumper.
