News helicopter

Name not confirmed

Rockstar has not named this vehicle

So we describe it by what is actually visible in the footage. We do not invent a name to fill the gap.

When the real name is confirmed, this page moves to that name and this address keeps working.

The source frame, with the News helicopter marked
The news helicopter in the Mount Kalaga press still: N88892 on the dark upper fuselage, NEWS on the red rear fuselage, REPORTING THE RIGHT NEWS on the panel behind the open doorway, a cameraman in the doorway

Press pack · snt-00003 · usable frame · side · 1632 × 777 px © Rockstar Games The whole frame at 3840 × 2160, scaled down to fit — never enlarged. The box marks the crop exactly as we measured it, and that crop is the detail alongside, at its true size.

A news helicopter photographed close enough to read its registration: N88892 in white on the dark upper fuselage, NEWS down the side, and REPORTING THE RIGHT NEWS on the white panel behind the open doorway, where a cameraman sits.

The lettering is transcribed here rather than interpreted: this comes from Rockstar’s own press still, not a video frame. N88892 sits in white with a dark outline on the dark upper fuselage above the cabin. NEWS is set in white down the red rear fuselage, followed by white stripes. Behind the open doorway, on a white panel under a window, REPORTING THE RIGHT NEWS is stacked in three lines: the first and last in black, and THE RIGHT in white on a black band between them.

The livery is red, white and black: a black roof over the cabin, red door frames and a red nose, a black sweep low on the front door, and diagonal red and white candy stripes on the tail fin. A cameraman sits in the open doorway in an olive flight suit, with a shoulder camera on a mount; the pilot is in the right-hand seat. The main rotor is turning, three blades meeting at the hub, against a bright, hazy sky.

One detail is worth putting on the record because it cuts against the real-world types listed with this page. This helicopter sits on skids: a straight tube runs under the fuselage on a pair of angled cross struts. Those types, the AgustaWestland AW109 and the Bell 222, come from GTABase’s entry for the Buckingham Swift, which has no screenshots yet and is simply the nearest helicopter we found in its list; in their usual form both are light twins on retractable wheels. That settles nothing on its own, but it is easy to check and worth checking.

How to recognise it

  • Registration N88892 in white on the dark upper fuselage, above the cabin
  • NEWS in white down the red rear fuselage
  • REPORTING THE RIGHT NEWS in three lines on the white panel behind the open doorway, THE RIGHT in white on a black band
  • Red and white candy-striped tail fin
  • Skid landing gear on angled cross struts
  • Cameraman with a shoulder camera in the open doorway, pilot in the right seat

The frame it comes from

The frame is a still from the official Press pack, which carries no timecode. It is 3840 by 2160, and the vehicle occupies 1632 by 777 of it. Also in it: Mount Kalaga National Park.

These figures come from the dataset, not from the prose above. We measure everything and claim what counts. How we work

What we still do not know

  • The manufacturer name in the game. No maker’s name can be read on the airframe; a small gold emblem above NEWS is too small to make out.
  • The real-world donor. The types listed with it are light twins on retractable wheels, taken from a community entry without screenshots; the aircraft here has skids.
  • Whether the news channel behind the slogan is a nameable in-game brand
  • Everything measured: top speed, handling, whether it can be flown at all

A note on this record

Corrected on 20 September 2026 and again on 22 September. The registration reads N88892, and the last character was checked separately: in this italic face it has a curved top and a flat foot, so a 2 and not a Z. What was wrong on 20 September was where and in what colour — it is white on the dark upper fuselage above the cabin, not black on the tail boom — and the crop was lowered so the skids are in it. On 22 September the body text turned out to still carry the old reading while the summary and the list carried the new one, and NEWS is white on red rather than red on white. Both corrected. On 25 September 2026 the slogan moved from below the open doorway to the panel behind it, with its middle line white on a black band; the rotor shows three blades at the hub, not two; the cameraman sits in the doorway rather than leaning out of it; nothing in the picture says the aircraft is banking; and the real-world types turned out to come from a single community entry for another name, not from matches in general.

Also in these frames

Measured in the same frames as the images above, but without a page of their own. Same rule as everywhere else: what the crop carries, with the source and the timecode. The ones whose frame no page shows are collected in the frame.
