Backyard fighting
A bare-knuckle fight in a drained swimming pool, roped off like a ring, with mattresses and garden chairs around the edge and an audience sitting on them.
The Extended Look frame catches the moment one fighter takes a punch: head turned away, blood on his white shirt, the other man following through. They are standing on the painted floor of an empty pool, which still has its tiled waterline and a shark painted on the bottom.
Somebody has strung blue rope around the pool at waist height on posts, which turns it into a ring. Old mattresses and plastic garden furniture are arranged around the rim and people are sitting on them watching. Beyond the fence a car is parked on the grass.
It is a backyard in a run-down neighbourhood, and the staging is deliberate: the pool is the venue because the pool is what was there.
How to recognise it
- A drained swimming pool with a shark painted on the floor
- Blue rope strung on posts around the rim, making a ring
- Mattresses and garden chairs as seating
- Bare knuckles — no gloves on either fighter
- An audience sitting close, in a residential backyard
The frame it comes from
The frame is Extended Look at 9:24.80. It is 1920 by 1080, and the vehicle occupies 1920 by 1080 of it. Also in it: a drained pool used as a fighting ring, a white sedan, a man with a top knot and a gold chain, and a man in a white shirt being hit.
What we still do not know
- Whether fights like this are a repeatable event
- Whether you can bet on them
- Whether the player fights or watches
- Whether this is the same melee system used elsewhere
