Vented-rib revolver

A revolver with a vented rib and a full underlug, held in a hand with a rose tattoo over a motorcycle club patch.

The crop catches the cylinder and the frame from close range. The cylinder is fluted and swings out to the left. Below the barrel runs a full-length underlug, and along the top of the barrel there is a vented rib — the row of slots that classically sits on a target or duty revolver. A small maker's mark is stamped on the frame beside the hammer.

The hand holding it has a rose tattooed above the knuckles and a dark manicure, and it rests on a leather patch reading ANOTHER DAY and MOTORCYCLE. This is the Ambrosia material, where the motorcycle club appears.

The barrel runs off the left edge of the frame, so its length is not determinable. Our own earlier note called this a long-barrel revolver; that was more than the image supports and has been corrected.

The frame it comes from

The frame is a still from the official Press pack, which carries no timecode. It is 3840 by 2160, and the vehicle occupies 922 by 691 of it. Also in it: Ambrosia and Western Sovereign.

What we still do not know

• The barrel length — it runs out of frame
• Whether this is the Hawk & Little Morgan revolver named on Rockstar's media page. It is a revolver and so is that, and that is not evidence.
• Its calibre
• Whether the maker's mark is legible in the uncropped original

A note on this record

The name of this page describes the vented rib because that is what is visible. Rockstar's own media page names a Hawk & Little Morgan revolver, and it would be easy to assume this is that weapon — but a shared category is not an identification, and a guessed name in a URL is expensive to undo.
