Scoped hunting rifle

A bolt-action rifle with a telescopic sight and a wooden stock, carried at waist height by a hunter in camouflage dungarees in Mount Kalaga National Park.

The rifle is held across the body at waist height in the third of the press pack’s Mount Kalaga stills, muzzle to the right and down. A telescopic sight sits on the receiver, the bolt handle stands out below it on the side facing the camera, the stock and forend are reddish brown wood, and the barrel is long and unshrouded. The butt runs back under the carrier’s right arm, so the shape of the stock behind the grip does not show.

The person carrying it wears camouflage dungarees over a bare chest, with bare, reddened arms, the grey tip of a beard at the top of the crop and the rest of the head above it, and a dark band round the left wrist, above the hand on the forend. The right hand grips the stock from above just behind the bolt, the left cups the forend from below, and the metal of the barrel and the sight is dark and dull against the red of the wood. Long grass and a tree trunk stand behind, and the light comes through them from the back. A second hunter walks beside them in the same still, outside this crop.

Each shoulder strap of the dungarees carries a buckle above the bib, and the print is a leafy camouflage, dark green and brown with small orange leaf shapes scattered over it. The grass round the legs is tall and dry, with pale seed heads catching the light above green blades, and further back the trees are no more than blurred light and shadow.

Hunters carry it here, and hunting has its own page as an activity. What the frame does not show is whether the scope is an attachment or part of the weapon, or whether hunting asks for this rifle in particular, and nothing on the wood or the metal carries a word.

GTA 5’s Sniper Rifle was a scoped bolt-action too, but a military one: the GTA Wiki matches it to an Accuracy International Arctic Warfare. The wood and the hunter carrying this one put it closer to a sporting rifle.

A note on this record

Rebuilt on 22 September 2026 against the 4K press still, with a reading record on the crop. Two claims were outside the crop and have come out: the glasses and the stars-and-stripes bandana on the carrier, whose head is above the frame, and the second hunter's tee with its wolf's head and lettering, which is elsewhere in the still. The rifle, the dungarees and the setting hold. The correction of 20 September stands: the stock is reddish brown wood. Checked again on 25 September 2026 at 1:1. The head is above the crop, not above the frame, which shows it. The band is on the left wrist, not the right, and whether it is a watch does not show. Two rings under the sight, a raised cheekpiece and a sling swivel were in the text and are not in the picture: the butt runs under the arm. The line calling this the rifle that goes with the hunting activity said more than the frame does and went. The comparison with GTA 5's Sniper Rifle has been checked against the GTA Wiki and stays, without the cheekpiece.
