The Rusty Anchor

The building is timber under a pitched metal roof, with a railed veranda running its width. The name hangs from a bracket in front of the roof on a long board: THE RUSTY ANCHOR in pale capitals, a roundel with a painted portrait at the left-hand end, and beneath it in yellow script, Sink Your Troubles at The Rusty Anchor. A gull sits on the ridge.

The veranda is full: people standing at the rail with drinks, more inside under the roof beside a board on the wall, a US flag on a post at the corner. Across the front, on the railing, hangs an orange-lettered banner reading CRAB FESTIVAL, with crabs drawn at either end and smaller lines under it that do not read. The veranda wall is a lattice of patterned blocks, and arched openings at the end of the building look out on the palms.

It is the third of the press pack’s Leonida Keys images. In front of the bar, outside this crop, a couple kiss by the painted picnic tables at the left and a man sleeps face down on another table in the foreground, beer bottles beside him. The Keys are where Rockstar puts Jason, and a bar like this is where a man working for local drug runners would be found off duty. Whether this one opens, and what you can do inside, is the question.
