'95 Grotti Cheetah

The white wedge nose-in at the kerb on Ocean Drive in Trailer 1 is the Grotti Cheetah. Rockstar's own media page shows the same rear end, and the badge in the middle of the tail panel settles it.

The camera at 0:32 of Trailer 1 is low and behind the car, so what fills the crop is the rear deck. A broad black louvred panel covers the engine bay, its slats running across the car, and the bodywork rises to meet it on both sides. Below that runs a full-width silver ribbed panel with a black recess at each end carrying three round red lamps a side. The paint is white and the proportions are the flat wedge of an eighties mid-engine car rather than anything modern.

In the middle of that ribbed panel, small and dark, is a rearing horse. That is the Grotti badge, and it is the piece that turns a shape into a name: Rockstar’s own media page carries four studio shots of the Cheetah, and the rear one puts the same horse in the same place, on a black mesh panel there, with Cheetah in script on the white body outboard of the lamps and the same louvred deck above. On the trailer car that script badge is under this site’s floor for lettering and does not read; the name rests on the horse, the render and the plate. The car in the trailer wears plain white; the one in the studio shots wears the Ultimate Edition’s red stripe with white pinstriping over the bonnet and the rear deck, a maroon lower flank, and a red interior. The livery differs, the bodywork does not.

Everything behind it is Ocean Drive at night. People are standing in the road: a woman in a white top and red skirt, a figure in a patterned green dress, a man in a yellow shirt and red cap. Headlights are on, a pale car is further back, and a cyan sports car sits in the immediate foreground with its own page in this database.

The Cheetah has been in the series since GTA 3. GTA 5’s was a modern mid-engine wedge, and the Cheetah Classic that GTA Online added later was this eighties shape; the trailer car is that classic line carried over, which is the move the whole trailer makes with its cars.

How to recognise it

• Grotti's rearing horse in the middle of the silver ribbed centre panel, above the number plate
• Black louvred engine cover across the rear deck
• Three round red tail lamps a side, in black recesses at the ends of the ribbed panel
• Flat wedge profile, white paint, no stripe in the trailer car

What we know

These four renders are not loose images on Rockstar’s media page. They come out of a download bundle the site names Ultimate Edition Benefits, and every file inside it is prefixed ULTIMATE_EDITION_. Rockstar’s product page says the same in words: the ’95 Grotti Cheetah heads its list of what only the Ultimate Edition carries, as Grotti’s signature mid ’90s sports car and ode to Shore Drive, complete with a minimalist, retro-futuristic livery and available to punctuate later-stage action.

So the striped Cheetah in these renders is bonus content in the $99.99 Ultimate Edition. What that does not settle is whether it is a separate car or a paint job: the Cheetah on Ocean Drive in Trailer 1 is plain white, and the one in these renders wears a red stripe along the flank and over the bonnet with a red band low along the body. Same name, two finishes, and nothing published says which of them the base game gives you.

The frame is Trailer 1 at 0:32.57. It is 3840 by 2160, and the vehicle occupies 1056 by 557 of it. Also in it: Ocean Drive at night, a cyan open-top sports car, and a red fastback coupe with twin round lamps.

What we still do not know

• Whether the plate reading CH33TAH is a one-off for that car or the standard plate on this model
• The donor car. The cues are the mid-engine Italian wedge of the mid-eighties: side strakes, a louvred deck, triple round lamps. We are not narrowing it further from one rear view.
• Whether the plain white car in the trailer is the base model and the striped car a paid variant, or whether both are liveries on one vehicle
• Whether the car is drivable in the trailer scene or set dressing for the street
• When it arrives. Rockstar says it is available to punctuate later-stage action, which puts it late in the story without saying where.
• Everything measured: top speed, acceleration, handling, price, where it spawns

A note on this record

Corrected on 20 and 22 September 2026 against the 4K frame: the rear panel is silver and ribbed, not dark, and the horse sits on it; the Cheetah script reads on Rockstar's render, not on the trailer car.
