Xero
A petrol station brand read off its own forecourt: XERO on the canopy fascia and an X device on the price board, and in a second frame the prices.
What the screenshot shows
The station has a long, flat canopy on pillars, strung with bunting. XERO reads across the canopy fascia in capitals darker than the board behind them; through the haze in this still neither the letters nor the board separate as a colour, and on the Extended Look frame the same name is white on a red panel, and the same brand appears again on the price totem at the left with an angular X device beside it.
The totem shows three rows in this crop, a price beside each, and a palm trunk hides the last digit of every one; the labels beside them are under this site’s floor for lettering. At the right edge of the crop hangs a vertical red banner with yellow letters, of which OPE falls inside the crop, and a white roadside sign in the form of a speed limit sign carries 35.
In the foreground is the head of a man in a cap and sunglasses, turned away to the right, with the top of a second head at the bottom edge of the crop. The haze sits on the station behind them rather than on the men. The station is the background of the frame rather than its subject, which is why the crop is modest, but the brand appears twice in it and both readings agree.
A second sighting, from the Extended Look at 12:14.72, gives the price totem clear of obstruction. It has four price rows. Two read in full on the original pixels, 5.07 in the third row and 5.22 in the fourth, the fourth in green where the others are red; the first two read 4.2 and 4.7 and then stop. Neither third digit comes apart on the true pixel grid, and the two are not the same glyph either, so we have filled in neither. The labels beside the prices, the header above them and the two panels below are all under this site’s floor for lettering, so what the grades are called, and what the panels offer, stays unread.
One caution about this page: it draws on two different Xero forecourts. On the press still the X device sits below the prices on the totem; on the Extended Look frame it sits above them, and the prices are different. The brand is the same, the station is not.
How to recognise it
- XERO across the canopy fascia in capitals darker than the board behind them
- An angular X device in red, white and black on a teal panel of the price totem: at the top on the Extended Look totem, under the price rows on the press-pack one
- A price totem of four rows, the lowest lit in green where the three above it are red
- Two lettered panels at the foot of the totem, red above dark
- A vertical red banner with yellow letters at the right of the building
The frame it comes from
The frame is a still from the official Press pack, which carries no timecode. It is 3840 by 2160, and the subject occupies 768 by 425 of it. Also in it: the Diversity'n'Treats billboard, the Ambrosia County Sheriff's Office sign, Ambrosia, and a red and black cruiser.
How this was measured

These figures come from the dataset, not from the prose above. We measure everything and claim what counts. How we work
What we still do not know
- The last digit of the first two prices. Neither separates on the true pixel grid, and the two are different glyphs, so neither is filled in.
- What the rows are called, and what the two panels under them say: every label on the totem is under this site’s floor for lettering.
- Whether the station is enterable.
- Where each of the two stations is. Both frames give a roadside and not a place, and nothing in either says the two are the same forecourt.
Every frame we have
Also in these frames
Measured in the same frames as the images above, but without a page of their own. Same rule as everywhere else: what the crop carries, with the source and the timecode. The ones whose frame no page shows are collected in the frame.
