A white police SUV driving through standing swamp water in a press still, throwing spray off both front wheels with a red roof lamp burning.
The vehicle comes at the camera through shallow water, a broad white SUV with an upright nose and a shallow power dome in the bonnet. The grille is dark with horizontal bars in a pale surround; the headlights are narrow and angular, set high. The lower bumper carries a wide air intake with recesses either side.
A red segment is lit on the roof, which is the only part of the light bar in frame. There is a dark mark on the front door in the place a department badge would sit; it is not legible. Water is coming off both front wheels in sheets and reeds stand in the foreground, so this is a wetland crossing rather than a road.
The record's value is the setting as much as the vehicle: it establishes that marked police units run into the Grassrivers, not only on tarmac. The same press still holds a police helicopter overhead and a pickup truck.
How to recognise it
- White SUV, upright nose, shallow power dome in the bonnet
- Dark horizontal-bar grille in a pale surround, narrow angular headlights
- Red roof lamp lit
- An illegible dark mark on the front door where a badge would sit
- Driving through standing water with reeds in the foreground
The frame it comes from
The frame is a still from the official Press pack, which carries no timecode. It is 3840 by 2160, and the vehicle occupies 365 by 270 of it. Also in it: Grassrivers, a pickup truck, and a police helicopter.
What we still do not know
- The department markings on the door
- The rest of the light bar, and the livery down the flank
- Whether Montagne is badged anywhere on the vehicle. The name comes from the published lists.
- Everything measured: top speed, handling, where it spawns
