Dune buggy

A tube-frame buggy at a mud party, in a press still where the photographer's own hand is closer to the lens than the vehicle is.

The honest description starts with the framing. This screenshot is a selfie at a mud party: a man in a cowboy hat and dungarees fills the middle of it with both hands up, and our measured crop of the buggy sits behind one of them. What is left is a clear look at part of the machine and a blurred look at the rest.

The buggy is a tube-frame machine: a pale grey roll cage of several bars arching over an open cockpit, a tan body tub with orange graphics along the side panel, and tall knobbly tyres caked in mud. A man sits in it, shirtless, in sunglasses, with a circular tattoo on his shoulder and one arm hooked over the side.

Around it, the wider frame is a mud bog in Ambrosia: people on and around several machines, a second buggy at the right edge, mud on everything and everyone, and a beer can held up in the bottom corner.

How to recognise it

The frame it comes from

The frame is a still from the official Press pack, which carries no timecode. It is 3840 by 2160, and the vehicle occupies 1037 by 1555 of it. Also in it: Ambrosia.

What we still do not know

• The name. Our own note carries a hypothesis from elsewhere; this frame does not support one, so it is not repeated here.
• The front of the machine. The hand and the depth of field between them take it.
• Whether the orange graphics are a livery or a wrap
• Everything measured: top speed, handling, price, where it spawns
