Basketball
Two full outdoor courts in blue and green, with a game going on and a group watching from the fence. Not a prop — a place.
The press screenshot is shot from above. Two courts sit side by side, one blue and one green, with painted keys and proper backboards. On the near court somebody has just shot and the ball is in the air; on the far court another group plays. Palms and low buildings stand behind the fence, and a stretch of water beyond that.
The people on the courts are dressed for it — vests, shorts, trainers — and there are onlookers at the fence rather than the usual scattering of pedestrians.
In the Extended Look a short frame shows a hoop under a stilt house with a prompt reading SHOT, which is the only interface evidence the material gives for this. Together the two say the game models basketball as something you do, not only something that happens nearby.
How to recognise it
- Two full outdoor courts, blue and green, with painted keys
- A shot in the air on the near court
- Onlookers along the fence
- A separate Extended Look frame shows a hoop with a prompt reading SHOT
- Set against water and low buildings in Vice City
The frame it comes from
The frame is a still from the official Press pack, which carries no timecode. It is 3840 by 2160, and the vehicle occupies 845 by 734 of it. Also in it: Vice City, Hotel Valetta, and Bus.
What we still do not know
- Whether it is a playable minigame or an animation
- Whether you can join a game in progress
- Whether there is a scoring system or betting
- How many courts are in the world
