Hoodwinks
An unlit vertical board on a corner beside the Liquor Bar neon, reading ODWINKS under the rounded foot of a letter cut off by the top of the screenshot, and a painted sign that begins Ho and ends ks BAR. Together they read Hoodwinks.
The press image has Lucia astride a yellow sports bike at night, and two crops of it carry this name. On the building’s corner hang two signs: the bright vertical neon of the Liquor Bar, and beside it a tall unlit board with letters set one above the other and reading downwards. Everything on that board is orange because of the neon next to it, not because the board is lit.
The board gives O D W I N K S whole, seven letters, each of them standing clear on the true pixel grid despite the low contrast. Above the O sits the lower half of one more letter, cut through by the top edge of Rockstar’s screenshot: a rounded foot with the bottom of a counter in it, the same shape as the foot of the O beneath it. As far as the picture goes, the board reads ODWINKS under the foot of another O.
Painted on the wall above Lucia’s head is a second sign, red script on a cream band: Ho at the left, ks BAR at the right, the middle hidden behind her hair and the tops of the letters against the frame edge. Read together, the two signs give Hoodwinks: the painted sign supplies the H and the first o, the board shows that o as a rounded foot and then O D W I N K S whole.
Until 26 September 2026 this page called the bar Hodwinks, with one O, reading the half letter on the board as the foot of an H. Its foot is round and closed, and the foot of an H would be two separate uprights, so that reading does not hold and the page has moved to the new name. Before 18 September it carried Hoodwink’s, which fitted the spacing but was a guess.
Because it sits directly beside the Liquor Bar neon, the two are either the same establishment named twice or two businesses sharing a corner. Nothing in the frame settles it, and no wider crop exists: the frame ends halfway up the second letter.
How to recognise it
- A tall unlit board on the corner, letters stacked and read downwards
- O D W I N K S whole, and above them the rounded foot of one more letter
- A painted sign along the wall: Ho at the left, ks BAR at the right, the middle behind Lucia's head
- Directly beside the Liquor Bar neon, which supplies all the light on it
The frame it comes from
The frame is a still from the official Press pack, which carries no timecode. It is 3840 by 2160, and the subject occupies 307 by 1209 of it. Also in it: the LIQUOR BAR neon, a yellow sport bike, and Lucia Caminos.
How this was measured
| Source | Press pack |
|---|---|
| Frame | 3840 × 2160 |
| Crop | 307 × 1209 — a small part of the frame |
| Image check | 20 September 2026 — crop checked against the frame |
| Text check | 26 September 2026 — 26 claims read against the image, 3 corrected |
| Read at | the true pixel grid, 1:1 |
| Lettering | Letter height | Contrast | Reads |
|---|---|---|---|
| ODWINKS | 100 px | — | every character |
| the lower half of an eighth character above the O | — | — | in part |
| Ho | 90 px | — | every character |
| ks BAR | 97 px | — | in part |
These figures come from the dataset, not from the prose above. We measure everything and claim what counts. How we work
What we still do not know
- The top of the board. It is above the edge of the frame in the only shot that carries the neon, so the H is read on the painted sign alone.
- Whether it is the same business as the Liquor Bar
- Whether it is enterable
- Which town the corner is in
