Classic with tailfins

A single tailfin against a bright sky, chrome-tipped with a red lens in the end of it: a fifties car recorded by one detail rather than a shape.

The crop is a detail and the record says so. What is in it is the rear fin of a car in pale mint green, rising to a point and tipped with a chrome bullet housing that holds a red lens. Chrome trim runs along the top edge of the fin. Below it the body curves away out of frame.

Everything else is sky and palm. Two palms stand behind the fin against high cloud, and a white railing crosses the left of the crop, which our notes place as a stilt house over the water.

A fin of this shape and a lamp mounted in its tip belong to the late fifties and nothing else, which is as far as one fin will take anybody. A Vapid Ganado is parked in the same frame.

The frame is Trailer 2 at 0:08.13. It is 1920 by 1080, and the vehicle occupies 384 by 378 of it. Also in it: a stilt house over the water and Vapid Ganado '70.

• The whole car. This is one fin.
• The name, and the manufacturer
• Whether a better frame of the same car exists in footage we have not measured
• Everything measured: top speed, acceleration, handling, price, where it spawns

A note on this record

Filed with the angle recorded as a detail rather than a side or a rear, because that is what it is. It stays in the database because a fin and a tail lamp date a car, and this one dates it firmly.
